Windows Update With Genuine/fake Os/office

Featured Replies

Hi!

As some of you guys know, I got a new Toshiba laptop which came with free Genuine Windows Vista pre-installed, bought from I.T. City.

I.T. City also "pre-installed" Microsoft Office 2003 on it... which I think might be fake (not sure).

My OS tells me that there is an "important" update for MS Office 2003 waiting to be downloaded.

If indeed my Office 2003 is fake (not sure it is), would I have a problem getting this Office 2003 update? (considering that my OS is genuine?)

:o

Yes you will have problems updating Office if it is a copy. Microsoft only does "authentification" checks for Windows when you perform a Windows update and the same is true for Office Programs.

There will be NOT legal problems from MS but maybe tha update will not be done. That's all.

Try to continue the Update.

Okay, but won't Windows automatically install some kind of annoying pop-up warning me that my MS Office is fake? :o

No, that's for "fake" Windows only!

Install the updates, there will be no problems
