BANGKOK (NNT) - Starbucks Thailand has unveiled an ambitious plan to open 335 new stores in the country from 2023 to 2030. The strategy aims to increase the total number of Starbucks branches in Thailand to 800 by 2030, up from the current 465 stores. The move reflects Starbucks’ commitment to accelerating growth in one of Southeast Asia’s vibrant markets.

Starbucks Thailand Managing Director Nednapa Srisamai emphasized the company’s confidence in the long-term prospects of Thailand’s economy. Although the investment budget was not disclosed, she stated that Thailand has been a strategic market for Starbucks in Southeast Asia for a significant period, and the company remains optimistic about the future of the coffee business in the country.

As part of the eight-year business plan, the new Starbucks stores will incorporate the Reserve and drive-thru formats. Starbucks has adapted to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic by increasing the number of drive-thru stores, a focus that will continue this year as the number of COVID infections decreases. Currently, there are 56 Starbucks drive-thru stores in Thailand, with plans to expand the network to approximately 100 in the future. The drive-thru concept aligns with evolving consumer behavior and offers enhanced accessibility.

In line with the sustainability trend, Starbucks Thailand intends to open more Starbucks Greener stores and cashless outlets. The company recently upgraded its largest store, Starbucks Reserve Chao Phraya Riverfront at Iconsiam, to include a second Community store. Starbucks plans to operate eight Community stores out of the 800 branches scheduled for 2030. These stores will employ a profit-sharing business model, supporting Starbucks’ global commitment to establishing 1,000 Community stores worldwide by 2030.

Some sort to hiso status I guess they like to take photos of their 150 b coffee.

I think Starbucks coffee stinks in fact would much rather get a 7-11 coffee then the stinky skunk stuff they serve.

Peet's coffee is much better and their selection blows away Starbucks.

Living in the Bay Area, we're lucky to get Viet coffee ( Cà phê sữa đá and cà phê đá) .

People on here can moan all day long, but seeing how popular Starbucks is with many Thais, I don't think their plans for growth are outrageous.

A status thing in Thailand, post a selfie sitting in Starbucks holding an over-priced cup of disgusting coffee.

Optimistic then? Are they going to push the competition out of the already near saturated market?

Still amazes me people get up in the morning , have a coffee, and then get the need to go out and find and pay for yet another ridiculously expense coffee.

FANTASTIC TOILETS!!

Clean stores

P-Poor coffee

Over Priced Fatty Pre- Frozen treats

Friends don't let friends drink Starbucks

They are selling social status and not quality coffee

Once took my wife (ex) and her mother to a starbucks in NST.  Her mother told my wife “u will stop him from this stupidity soon and come local coffee shop for much less thb.

I have a cup of tea when I get up...since my coffee maker broke, and they are ridiculously expensive to buy. A nice coffee in the mall is 60 baht later on.

Amazon Cafe has much better coffee at half the price. They are becoming the go to place for a good affordable coffee. Starbucks is just a place people go once in awhile to get a photo opportunity showing others they can afford a cup of coffee for a half day’s work. I’d open an Amazon cafe any day over a Starbucks.

Rip off, over price, I don't use them

Do you mean PTT coffee? Petroleum Authority of Thailand (PTT) owns Amazon Cafe which is the reason why 711 is not allowed to sell coffee PTT stations.

Most overrated Coffee on the planet, i don't like it that much better places around

I’ve not used a Starbucks since the last overpriced horrid tasting coffee, it’s at least 15 years since a last visit to one.

Do they even still charge for WiFi?

If it wasn't for the upstairs short-time rooms I would not use them too!

I use Amazon only on long journeys but I think Inthanin is actually better tasting than Amazon.

Don't forget the book that you aren't actually reading... ????

I make my own coffee at home but when traveling I find Starbucks reliable for good tasting strong black coffee. Of course I'm regarded as a weirdo for ordering just coffee there and even more so because I refuse to order in Italian.

Even though I'm not a Starbucks fan I think most people trashing it are expressing these things:

Resentment about their prices

Anti big corporations

Anti Americanism (such as Euro snobs resenting that Americans have done better in a space they think they should rightly own centered around espresso based drinks)

Right wingers thinking they are too woke

Left wingers upset that they fight unions

How stupid many of their customers are with all the Insta BS

Trend towards cashless only shops

Etc.

The truth is their drinks though overpriced are decent enough and their coffee is pretty good.

Not the best but certainly not the worst either.
