Perhaps someone is old enough to remember black and white tv from the 50s and 60s. There was a long running comedy show in America – The Phil Silvers Show featuring a ‘Sgt Bilko’. I’m not american but I watched this on english television which showed repeats of it right into the 80s and 90s – maybe later too, for all I know.

Would anyone know how I might get hold of dvds of this show? In Thailand? In London? On the web as a download to cd/dvd? I’m very stupid in using the last possibility – or even finding things out on the computor/internet, but I have nephews/nieces in London who are clever at it and if I give them pointers they might do it for me and send me the cd/dvd.

Apart from that specific query, is there a place in Chiang Mai specializing in british movies from the 50s and 60s? I periodically hanker for an Alistair Sim film, or something of that ilk.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

Classic series. It only ran for 4 years, but I don't remember one episode that was ever less than hilarious. :o

The re-make feature with Steve Martin was pathetic. As are all his films of the last 20 years.

Well, thank you bambina. You've found a 3-cd set which has collected apparently over 450 minutes of the show. Now I have to catch someone coming from America. Or is Amazon reliable for deliveries to Thailand? Amazon France (I'm in Paris just now doesn't have the cd set. Haven't tried amazon London yet.

But you've started me on the trail of it.

On the non-bilko sie of my post, ss there really nowhere even in Bangkok which specializes in old movies - british and american, of the 50s and earlier?

The other site in your post is of the movie of the bilko character - something quite different from what I want.

Entirely share your view of the shows,

I never bothered to see the martin movie. And you confirm that I missed nothing.

There are currently 41 Bilko dvd's for sale on e-bay.co.uk

Right. I'll follow that up. I have a daughter in London so the mechanics/logistics can be worked out. Many thanks.

Presumably the ebay items are good quality and there won't be technical hitches to their viewablity in Thailand (I don't know the nitty gritty I'm technically illiterate...but you know...the 'region' of the dvd etc...)

If you see the bilko set please post.

I want to get the set, not episodes recorded at random - otherwize I end up with gaps and repetition if I buy more such dvds.

Did go but couldn't find the 'old English' store, found the one which specialises in 'older movies' including a certain Yul Brynner one, :o Anyone know if it is still there and if so its name?
