Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat said this afternoon Thailand has changed since the general election in May and the people are now “half way to victory”.

 

In his parting shot as he prepared to leave the parliament chamber after being told by the Constitutional Court to suspend his parliamentary duty, Pita asked his fellow MPs to make the victory complete.

 

“I think Thailand has never been the same since May 14 (election). The people are now half way to victory. Though I am no longer able to perform my duty, I ask my fellow MPs to take care of the rest,” said Pita before walking out of the chamber amid an applause from many of the parliamentarians.

I guess I get what he is trying to say, but for many it will be the same just continue with your life.

No it isn't. It's the exact same as it has been for more than a decade.

 

Democratic winners are not allowed to win. Democratically elected leaders are not allowed to lead. They are removed from office instead. 

The value of an Ivy league education is not only what you learn there but also in the connections a relationships one develop there , And the value of the education those who remain in power have, is apparent in the results.

It's a shame that Thailand 

Thailand had a chance to move to the next level sadly it took a step back. 

The shadow government shot down the dream right in the face of the worlds press your seeing some kind of Burmese Chinese hybrid junta that can't win without cheating or weapons its Thailand's sickest day in generations ????

Observations of everyday Thai society and life must be in short supply to those usual suspects that don't comprehend.

But there is a good chance, this time, that it will happen simultaneously around the rest of the country.

 

Because Thailand has "never been the same" since before May 14.  The Election was the incontrovertible confirmation of the momentous change that had already taken place.

Just wondering if a serious protest very soon by an angry big mob will turn to violence and make the military look less than crebible, less than honest, less than intelligent and less than able to operate in the expected values and morals of 2023.

 

And make Thailand look, again, like a military / police state, with the blood of civilians who are entitled to work towards proper democracy on their hands.

Would that be enough to gain cancellation of the constitution item / the laws which require senators to be appointed by a gang of thugs?

One thing that has definitely changed since the election - the younger generation now sees that their votes are making a difference. It may take time to get that vote actualized, but it is coming, and they can see it.

The younger generation sees that their votes are useless and finally realize that the country they grew up in is a cesspool.

IMO it would be better to have slightly smaller mobs but in far more places.

 

A large angry mob in one city is easier to contain than smaller but equally angry mobs in many places. It would force the military and the police to cover a much larger area and have to split their numbers off to deal with many at the same time.

And I suspect the events of today andthe last few days will make them evern more determined to demand / go for the total change.

 

Also, if they weren't fully ealizing the senators roadblcoka and the level of dofficulty to change the constitution they now are and they will react.

 

Further, as per the old saying 'there'smoe than one way to skin a cat. And amongst the youngsters there's plenty of young and very clever lawyers who given som time will create some unseen / very clever strategies.

It sure has changed. The election results showed that 2/3 of the population want a different government sure other people than the previous actors. But the previous actors do not accept it and pull on the strings of their previously appointed puppets.

This is what happens when coups take over disrespecting the peoples votes, installing their puppets in both legislative and judicial branches.....sadly thailand is not the only country with coups and coup attempts...even more sadly is many people seem to think that is just fine.

Unfortunately those " born to rule" will also be creating " loopholes". They control the ( discredited and discreditable) machinery to do so.

 

Their is only one tool in the younger Thai's toolbox. Revolt.

Nonsense. In virtually every Western democracy the government in power was put there by the electorate.

 

It may well be a party of which you do not approve, but that is a very different matter.

It was something that I was taught in the military decades ago and still holds true today.

 

If you surround 1 group and another pops up, do you 

 

1    deal with the first group  and then the second group

2   split your force and try to deal with both

3   then a 3rd group pops up elsewhere and the 1st and 2nd groups fade away and become the 4th and 5th groups somewhere else

4   meanwhile the 1st and second groups appear somewhere else.

5   all the time the state forces are moving further from their bases and supplies and have to leave troops to defend them, leaving even less troops to try to put the groups down

There's no way the electorate would be allowed to remove the ruling Elite from their position.

 

Obviously in Thailand they are a little more hands on, while in Western countries they are able to influence things a little more discretely. 

 

All Thailand can really hope for is a gradual shift in some sort of positive direction.
