July 25, 20232 yr Hi, I am currently on an Extension of Stay based on marriage to a Thai which is due for renewal November 11th. I have a trip back to the UK on October 20th returning to Thailand October 30th. Is it correct that I will need a re-entry permit before flying back to the UK or is it possible to apply for the extension before I fly back to the UK? Thanks for reading.
July 25, 20232 yr Re-entry permit is the usual way to go, but ask at your local IO how early you can re-new your Extension.
July 25, 20232 yr OP, which immigration office. Some allow you apply for extension 45 days prior to expiry. If you prefer to do the extension after return (safest idea) you buy a reentry permit. Can be obtained at immigration office or airport at departure.
July 25, 20232 yr As DrJack said, doing your extension after the trip would be safest route. You could apply before your trip, but in that case there will be some questions why are you leaving country while under consideration stamp. In both ways you will need reentry permit anyway.
July 25, 20232 yr If your extension was based on retirement, you could do it before you left. Because of the "under consideration" period associated with a marriage extension, this would be too risky. Get a single entry re-entry permit and do the extension after your return.

July 25, 20232 yr Author Thanks very much for the prompt replies. I'll ask at my Immigration Office next time in town and see what they say and will post whatever they suggest here too.
