UK: Nurse Lucy Letby guilty of murdering seven babies

I’m not a fan of contracting out  criminal Justice to criminals and I very much doubt Rampton or Broadmoor are anything like an ‘easy sentence’.

Rampton and Broadmoor are all about treatment and less about punishment.

 

They have segregation areas where they keep like-minded people. As an example, at Broadmoor it was always made sure that Peter Sutcliffe would never come into contact with Ronnie Kray and his cronies, while at the time having access to gardens, TV rooms, dining rooms, etc. This means inmates are able to access all amenities and facilities at anytime. There is no 23 hour lock up in a single cell. No exercising or other activities alone. It's all about being part of groups for rehabilitation purposes. Much more flexible living. Exceptions for a few extremely violent patients who continue their violence once there

 

In a prison things are very different. Prisoners can ask to be put in solitary confinement for their own safety. That will entail 23 hours lock up with 1 hour special NONCE exercise per day. If not requested, all prisoners eat, wash, exercise and get locked down at the same time. With the exception of those prisons with different category wings. 

 

The differences between a secure hospital and prison are huge. Hence, many times when someone knows they are going to get a heavy sentence, the try their luck down the mental health route.  Neither the convicted nurse nor her defence team have requested and mental health tests, so she will end up in a prison. 

 

I didn't suggest contracting out anything. She will naturally be a target as a baby killer. She deserves to feel helpless, just as those babies she killed were.

It's not for me to decide what form your anticipated revenge would take. Don't get me wrong- I do understand the desire, but I recognise it for what it is.

I cannot be seeking revenge.

 

Revenge : the action of hurting or harming someone in return for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands.

 

Despite the despicable things this nurse has done, it does not affect me, my life or my family in anyway. There is no need or desire for me to seek revenge.

 

Likewise, she had been found not guilty, it would not affect me, my life or my family in any way

You can and you are.  Again, I understand it, but when you say "Just a miserable, lonely existence knowing everyone around her wants her dead."  it expresses the desire succinctly.   The justice system is rammed with revenge.  And again I'm not making comment on it.

I have never suggested such a thing. 

 

I said if it happens, I wouldn't be upset by it. The same as, if it doesn't happen, I won't be upset by it.

 

She has committed heinous crimes. She deserves to go to prison. Prisons are volatile environments by nature.

I don't know about revenge, I'd simply say take her out tomorrow morning at sunrise and let her swing from a noose. Job done.
