Popular Post advancebooking Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 Personally, I haven't worn a mask for yonks. Only when I walk into a private hospital when someone asks me to wear one will I do so. I think its ridiculous to be wearing one day in day out. The threat of the chinese virus is over. I recently paid a sign guy to erect a vinal sign on our building. Towards the end of the job he saw me walking towards him and he put on his mask. I hung around until it was finished. He had a long neck of beer with him. Took a drink and put his mask back on. I lost respect for him. Thought he was an idiot. Is he that paranoid to catch a virus (from me) We have a busy small business. Ive noticed half the customers that walk in dont wear them which is good. I sit at reception not wearing one of course. I think its quite weird that many thais are still wearing them when majority of population in western countries are clearly not. 3 2 12 4 3
Popular Post Dmaxdan Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 Why does it bother you what others do? Personally I will still wear a mask where it is required and sometimes out of respect for those I'm interacting with. 10 2 1 6 9 2 2

Popular Post Skallywag Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 I am a foreigner and wear a new paper mask almost every day here in Pattaya. I find it helps in my condo elevator when Indians or Russians are in it to cover up their massive perfume smells. Also outside it protects my nose and half face from the sun, saving a lot on sunscreen. Also fossil fuel burning pollution smell from so many tourist busses, badly running baht busses, and even motorcycles is noticeably reduced when wearing a mask. Also on the beach promenade, coal burning food vendors, that raw coal burning smell has always bothered me, and a mask helps quite a bit. Less than 1 baht a day and reduces so many obnoxious smells here - 5555 or is it just me? 3 1 7 1 3

Perhaps you are from the English upper class or maybe from Oz? 6 3 1 3

True! I've been in U.K. since mid-June. Got a Covid jab before they discontinued them. Caught Covid four weeks ago. Still coughing up nasty stuff. I wear a mask whilst in shops and on public transport and get laughed at. Don't care. 5 2 3 1 1

Popular Post pgrahmm Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 The latest notice I saw on the subject was one person an hour was dying from Covid in TH.... It doesn't sound like many when spread through 80,000,000 people= unless you closely happen to cross paths with an unmasked stranger that happens to be infected ...... I went to our close by Hang Dong 2 big C a few days ago, paused and looked around - not a mask in sight......15 minutes later I again stopped & looked around - everyone within sight DID have a mask on..... Two time windows with completely different results..... If I'm going to be in close proximity to strangers, I mask up.... We're flying out to the US via Taipei next month & we will mask up.... Frankly, I feel safer around those that are careful enough to exercise caution.... 2 2 2
Popular Post Mr Derek Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 About 80% still masked up in the mall today (N. Bangkok). About 50% in the street. I doubt they are worried about catching Covid - they do it out of habit or because they don't want to offend the karens. I flew to Europe recently - Mrs D was the only one on the plane wearing a mask. Zero people in France we wearing masks. Coming back, a number of people on the plane were coughing heavily and making no effort to suppress it (cattle!). I caught flu (apparently not Covid). Would a mask have saved me? Moot point, but I'm still not prepared to wear a mask. If we can't live without all this safety-paranoia then life's not worth living. 2 1 3 1
Popular Post Tropicalevo Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 Thais and others in SE Asia have been wearing masks since Noah was a lad and well before Covid had been discovered in bat poop. Mostly to do with pollution and coughs and flu. I have had friends here always wearing masks when riding their scooters. Covid just stopped them from standing out. 6 1
Popular Post fredwiggy Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 If wearing a mask saves one person from getting Covid from you, which they were intended to do, then it's worthwhile. One thing I will agree with Transam is that this has been addressed many times before, with all kinds of replies. The masks also protect you and others from common colds an flu, so that's always a good thing coming into that season. A person who is sick is doing the right thing by wearing a mask in public. Locals have been educated on wearing masks, although some wear them while nowhere near others and some don't while in the back of a pickup with 12 people likewise not wearing masks. Covid is and will always be around, and I've probably had it at least three times, and once it wasn't so mild. I wear masks whenever I go into public stores, for a few reasons. One is respect. 2 1

Popular Post GammaGlobulin Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 Where I live, I am obsessed with wearing the N98 3M Mask during the Smoking Season.. I purchased 150 masks in 2018, and keep them stored in a temperature-controlled room, never above 21 degrees C. Cost per mask was approximately Bt.80.00 The masks quickly become blackened on the front surfaces of this amazing 3M valved mask while walking in the glorious and extremely dense smoke, especially when the AQI goes above 450. Well, it won't be long now... In just four more short months, I will be able to use my 3M masks once more. I am the envy of the populace inhabiting my village... During the Smoking Season. But I don't wear my masks in my house. Instead, I run my ACs 24/7/365. I run my Xiaomi air purifiers 24/7/365, too. What happens outside my house, stays outside. That's the way I like it. 4 1

I live in a nice house with few neighbors, and mostly farmers, with only one rooster. I can therefore enjoy being outside without worrying about being run over by all the sorts of strange vehicles we see in Thailand. My best friends are the Thai Mynas that continuously vocalize in so many super-intelligent ways. There is no need for my to waste time, and to risk life and limb, venturing forth on the highways and byways around CM. Most of what I need is now delivered to my door. 3BB is amazingly stable, and hasn't stopped working in over two years. I am now living my dream and feel content as a clam in the mud of the waterways surrounding Niantic. When I want to ride in a car, I call my favorite female driver/friend, and we crack jokes on the way to and from our destinations. This is what life is all about for me. I spend almost every day on the internet with students in China. I have a useful purpose in life. I admire Noam Chomsky for his incredible ability to teach lucidly at aged 94. Now, I am considering having my wood floors waxed to improve the anesthetics of my present existence... Call me Lucky... Chok Di!!! 1 1
Popular Post Roger That Posted August 29, 2023 Popular Post Posted August 29, 2023 I've definitely noticed the number of people wearing has gone down significantly in the past few months here in (the suburbs of) BKK. I was honestly starting to think it would never happen. 3 1

Yes I have a fairly sensitive nose/sense of smell. I think I look cool and mysterious outdoors with my fedora and mask and large dark sunglasses. People cannot tell who I am or my age. 555 Also can walk by tourists/youtubers with their gopro camera and am incognito as well! Am 66 now, yet 20 years ago when I had long still blondish hair and beard people sometimes mistook me for Richard Branson! Here in Pattaya many female personal companions/massage therapists will show up at my condo with masks....I would say more than 50% still wear them. With a mask and sunglasses and cap, a young Thai lady can literally "save face" when showing up at a large condo lobby, because people cannot see her face! 555 1
