I think the default in Windows is to sleep when you press the power button now. I also think that once it's been asleep for a while it will automatically hibernate.

 

You can check and change what the power buttons do in settings. Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Power Options

 

On the left hand side click "choose what the power button does"

If you left click on Start ( the black checkered window icon )  in the bottom left of screen ....

 

then when you move to ' shut down '   it will either show Hibernate or Sleep or both.   If you don't want Sleep '  then Hibernate is in the Power Options ....  where you have to tick the box to enable Hibernate.
