TWO MEN were arrested in southern Yala province and one in Bangkok on the charges of selling a modified blank pistol to a 14-year-old boy detained after going on a shooting spree at Siam Paragon mall on Tuesday (Oct. 3) killing two persons and injuring five others, TV Channel 7 said today (Oct. 5).

The investigation team in Bangkok coordinated with Provincial Police Region 9 to arrest  two of the three suspects for whom warrants had been issued by Southern Bangkok Criminal Court on the charges of conspiring to possess and trade firearms and ammunition without permission.

The teen suspect had purchased the modified blank pistol online.

jesus... those guns aren't made to be modified for live ammo. the alloys just arent at par. too bad it actually worked. could have saved a few innocent families from grieving

The gun laws as they are, are probably adequate, enforcement of the laws is required.

Courts need to get serious with gun infringements.

Anyone modifying, selling, handling any firearm without a license mandatory 10 years.

Anyone selling via any online platform gets the same.

One report (BP) says that he fired forty rounds with eleven hitting the deceased and wounded.

That same story talks about his use of an Army-run (Territorial Defense Command/Royal Thai Army) shooting range, where he was "supervised" by (presumably) RTA personnel. Not sure if he rented firearms there, or used his modded weapons.

Fair enough, charge them with joint enterprise for murder and give them all life

Well the authorities released this information (a modified gun) to the public, pretty early on if I recall correctly. I think that they thought this would mitigate the situation implying that "real" firearms are "controlled", which they are not of course.

So the gun sellers have been named. Have the parents been named or explained themselves yet?

All the new jerking and maybe new laws will not change a thing!

A bit of easing the anxious Chinese and all will be good again.

A guy i know got stopped at a checkpoint and they found his 9mm under his seat.

Three thousand baht"fine" and he still has the gun.

Another three thousand the next time around, good for business.

As long as the Royal Thai Police Force is what it is things will never change!

Just get on with mandatory jail sentences NOW, JUST DO IT!.

This has been going on for years :post-4641-1156694572:

Looks like they live like pigs.

This good news, now make them pay, in any way that's possible. ????

It is my understanding that selling a blank pistol is legal. It is confirmed that the 3 had modified it before selling it as an active weapon.

They're OK for a quick killing, Saturday night special or whatever ... quite common in countries where it's hard to get a real gun.
