Israeli envoy claims 99% of Thais in “red zone” evacuated to safety

Almost all the Thai people working in the so-called “red zone” in Israel have been evacuated to safety, said Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin today (Friday), quoting the Israeli ambassador to Thailand.

 

The prime minister invited the ambassador, Orna Sagiv, to Government House today to discuss the situation of Thais working in Israel, the evacuation plan for those who want to return home as well as the Thai government’s request to Israel for help in securing the release of Thai nationals being held hostage by Hamas.

 

He said that he asked the ambassador to convey the government’s message, asking Israel to facilitate the evacuation of Thais from Israel, adding that the envoy offered her assurance that the Israeli government is treating the evacuation of people from the danger areas and the provision of psychiatric care to those suffering from trauma as the highest priority.

Is it dressing up day for the PM?

 

Is he hoping to impress the Israeli Ambassador with Thailand's martial prowess or their abundance of white uniforms?

 

Seriously wtf is he playing at? 

 

From the link and I bet that went down well a week after the massacre, subtlety not his strong point I think:

So is there an official tally of how many Thais in Israel?  I have read numbers from 20,000-30,000 with only 400 a day being evacuated back by Thailand.

But do all these Thai agricultural workers want to leave Israel?  I think that there won't be any physical intrusions into Israel for a long time, and mushroom farms won't exactly be on top of Hamas' rocket list.

I read 30,000 Thai's as of now only 5 to 6 thousand want to come back, I also see on a Thai TV news some dont want to come back because they will lose their jobs most have a 5 year contract, one guy they interviewed was earning as much as 85,000 per month

Well the guy has to be seen to care and score points with the prolls. Reality is the recapture of the hostages by Israel is already a top priority, but he probably didn’t do himself or Thailand any favours by reiterating its neutrality.

Given that the massacre occurred a week ago today, the meeting had to take place less than a week after said massacre.
