Tourist Attacked by Gun-Wielding Taxi Driver in Pattaya

I must be just lucky.

Never had one taxi driver who didn't use the meter at Arrivals, BKK.

That's over 20 years.

And I usually give them a good tip when I arrive safely at my house....although they don't know that and  seem not to expect it, when we start the journey.

Good for you and as you mention, it was 20 years ago. Times have changed and very often one has to argue with the taxi fellow on arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport to use the meter. Not to mention the other hidden *extras* they try to charge like toll or special airport tax. It is true that there are these extras to some extent but there are always dishonest ones...quite a few, who inflate the ride. I prefer to hire a private chauffeur driven car. A bit more of course in cost, but it avoids having to hand out me cash to a taxi cheat. Even better is the railway link that leaves from Suvarnabhumi basement and drops you directly in the heart of BKK at Paya Thai stop.

Clamp down going well then.  all those with guns don't seem to give a dam, until mandatory sentencing is given it will carry on. Sorry if I keep banging on about it but jeeze 5yr min may work.

Who the heck writes this stuff. The story is full of inconsistencies which make it hard to grasp any more than the gist of it……and then there is the “cherished tourist destination “.   SMH

I think you might have misunderstood.

This over the PAST 20 years u.til this day.

Not 20yrs ago.

If you're going to hire a driver and Limo why even post / comment about taxis at BKK?

Like I said.....never had a problem in the past 20 years !

Another one......

For longer trips, say from airport rank to Pattaya, it was a fixed price but off meter.

He had the right to reply for your incorrect comment...

"Pattaya, a cherished tourist destination."

I cherish it.

Pattaya is a blast.

Every discussion of any kind about Pattaya attracts Pattaya bashers, why is that?

I imagine there are discussions about golf on this forum, I never noticed.

I don't care for golf, I consider it "a good walk ... spoiled" as the man said.

But I have never posted on a golf discussion that I don't care for golf.

What I am saying is that all the Pattaya bashers definitely have an interest in Pattaya.

Is there a name for this?

I don't know but it is a real phenom.

Then no need to ask others why they comment isn't it ?  Is this that hard to understand for a nimble mind ?

People are reporting on what they think. Don't agree or like it? Too bad.

Touchy? A little?

Seem to have missed the point in any event.

Have a nice grouchy life mate... others, on here, will more than likely agree with me. FACT, you mis-quoted him... shame on you.
