20-baht train fares for Purple and Red lines effective today (Monday)

Starting today, fares on the Purple Line, between Taopoon and Khlong Bang Phai, and the Red Line suburban train, between Bang Sue and Rangsit and Bang Sue and Taling Chan, will be 20 baht for the entire route, after the cabinet approved the train fare cut today with immediate effect.

BMA has no problem with pubs and bars staying open until 4am

Flooding in Thailand’s Ayutthaya and Ubon Ratchathani provinces

Almost 12,000 households in nine districts of Ayutthaya province, which are not protected by floodwalls, are now inundated due to the rising level of the Chao Phraya River, its tributaries and canals, after irrigation officials discharged about 1,800 cubic metres of water/second through the Chao Phraya dam for three consecutive days.

Officials are stepping up maritime safety awareness to ensure tourists are kept safe while at sea. Prawet Supachai from the Region 5 Marine Office says all concerned parties in Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga, Ranong, Satun and Trang have been told to make sure all operators are aware of safety precautions and maritime regulations.

Reckless driving causes 1.2 million baht BMW motorcycle crash

A reckless driving manoeuvre atop Phu Thap Boek, a popular tourist spot in Phetchabun, resulted in a BMW motorcycle, worth 1.2 million baht, being sideswiped by a bronze Toyota pickup truck, causing it to topple over. The motorcyclist and a female pillion rider suffered minor injuries in the incident that took place today.
