Does anyone else think Papa John's or Domino's Pizza should open a shop in Bangkok? I'm not a huge fan of "fast food" and usually prefer real thin-crust Italian pizza, but I'd rather eat pizza from either of those two than Pizza Hut or Pizza Company. I think one of them has already a branch in Korea and/or Japan..

Papa Johns is looking to open but they need to find a Master Franchise Holder. Applicant must have at least minimum net worth of US$3,000,000; and US$200,000 per restaurant in cash, liquid assets, or available financing.

Domino's Pizza folded about 10 years ago and from my experience there central dispatch was never able to get orders right or send to the right store. It got so bad the local branch provided there private number to order from - I did feel sorry for the franchise holders as they had to make good on the orders that never were delivered - because they never got to the right store. There has also been as Aussie outfit, and they may still be around. They were cheap but most orders arrived half cooked in my experience. Have no problem eating The Pizza as at least they can afford to put cheese on some versions (and can stock up on ice cream at a fair price).

Papa John's he77 yeaaah. Gorge myself on the stuff when I go home to Austin each year.

mental note: bring back a bottle of their garlic butter sauce to have it copied and produced en masse and served with Papa Heng's Pizza.

:D

hehe, seriously though. just found the recipe (turns out it's barely even a "recipe") on Google. Should be a nice addition when ordering Pizza Hut, Pizza Service, etc... :o

The two major Pizza suppliers leave a lot to be desired.

In fact, I was having a conversation with another member about buying a Pizza Oven, simply to make a nice home Pizza.

A Pizza is such a simple thing to make, but with the two local "Major Vendors" I will give them the catch phrase - Its the indifference that makes the difference

After I buy and install the oven - and there are many shops on Sukhumvit after On-Nut that sell them, I will post some pictures.

For me, the thin crispy crust - nearly like a biscuit and then the toppings, loaded to the outside, si it is not wet in the middle..... oh yes, I think I will go looking this weekend for the oven.

domino's use to be here but went out of business, probably because the didnt have any sit down establihments.

Same thing happened with Subway Subs the first time they tried opening here. They had dark, seedy looking shops in out of the way locations and ingredients were sparse and out of date. I'm not a big fan now, but they have improved considerably! :o

Those meatball subs with jalapeño weren't bad.

Mrs Fields Cookies failed the first time as well. Waaay too expensive back in 1991 for Thais, but I bought a bunch of stuff every time I visited Bangkok and brought it back to Chiang Mai.

i remember when they first came here, I went to the location next to the park on Sukhumvit...and they douced the sandwich with ketchup...I was ready to smack them over the head with it. :o

Papa Johns, Dominos, Pizza Co. etc..

Avoid those factory pizzas.YUK!

Bangkok has over 200 Italian Restaurants and most serve a delicious homeade pizza.

So you've been to over 100 Italian restaurants and had a delicious home-made pizza? Stop holding out!

In the two years that I lived in Bangkok and the maybe 8 times that I've been to BKK since I moved to CM, I've probably eaten at maybe 6 different Italian restaurants, I guess I didn't get out often enough. Never had a delicious home-made pizza in Bangkok. Had a few decent ones. Where are these myriad gems with which you tempt me?

I was once the only customer in Tapachula, Mexico who ordered italian sausage personal pizza at Domino's, and the girl knew me by sight. In San Cristobal de Las Casas, likewise. I nearly remember the girls' names after 6 years.. one of them was Mercedes (a girl, not a car).
