BANGKOK (NNT) - The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) played host to the Foreign Industrial Club (FIC) 2023 Gala Dinner, gathering Thai and foreign entrepreneurs in one place. With the theme ’Reforming Thailand,’ the event served as a platform for business discussions and as an economic confidence booster.

Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Srettha Thavisin inaugurated the gala dinner. He said Thailand is facing a “polycrisis” that includes a stagnant economy, a global pandemic, technological advancements, international competitions, constantly shifting global demands, and climate change.

Thailand needs to boost its economy and implement reforms for greater competitiveness, while attaining sustainability.

The key parts of the government’s strategy are to transform Thailand into a high-value technology and innovation-driven economy, upgrade agriculture, expand the EV industry, promote sustainable tourism, and establish the country as a high-standard medical hub.

Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, said the Federation focuses on enhancing the competitiveness of the industrial sector. It has established the Foreign Industrial Club (FIC), hoping to promote trade and investment between the private sector, government sector, diplomatic missions, and foreign investors, while exploring new targets.

Vice Chairman of the FTI, Mr. Vichaow Rakphongphairoj, said the initiative will foster mutual understanding and confidence as well as establish connections between Thai and foreign entities. He let on that the collaboration between foreign investors and local businesses has fortified the supply chain, enhancing Thailand’s industrial prowess and pushing it to become a regional economic powerhouse.
