Truck falls into construction hole on Sukhumvit Soi 64

A ten-wheel truck plunged into a hole on Soi Sukhumvit 64 in Phra Khanong district this morning (Wednesday), worsening the traffic congestion. The accident happened at about noon, obstructing three lanes of the road. Police have warned motorists to avoid the area.

 

Initial reports indicate that a taxi driver and a food delivery driver were injured in the accident.

 

Bangkok governor Chadchart Sittipunt rushed to the area to assess the situation.The governor said that an initial investigation has found that the Metropolitan Electricity Authority was installing electrical conduit under the road and a large steel sheet was used to cover the surface of that section. Chadchart said an investigation will be conducted to determine why the truck fell into the hole.
