On the night of November 9, 2023, Bangkok's Nana district saw a concerted effort by the Immigration Bureau Division 1 and the Lumpini Police Station to enhance security measures.

The operation involved X-ray screenings and detailed inspections targeting areas frequented by tourists at night, with a focus on Sukhumvit Soi 3 and Soi 3/1, reported Siam Rath.

This initiative, led by senior immigration and police officials, was designed to boost public confidence, ensure the safety of visitors, and preempt any disturbances, especially in light of potential international conflicts impacting Thailand.

Police Colonel Kajaphon Pathamang from Division 1 stated that the operation aligns with the policies set by the national police leadership, aiming to fortify the Immigration Bureau's role in safeguarding the country.

The strategy includes strict supervision and collaboration with other security entities to monitor vulnerable locations for any security threats and transnational criminal activities.

Following strategic discussions between the Immigration Bureau and the Metropolitan Police Bureau, the authorities have committed to maintaining these rigorous patrols.

The public is encouraged to assist by reporting any unusual or suspicious behavior to the emergency hotline 191 or the Immigration Bureau's hotline 1178, both available around the clock.

Why not just do their jobs all year round without the self congratulatory, random press releases.   that’s all that is required and that WOULD build confidence far more than this bs

  • The findings - No evidence of prostitution or immoral behaviour was found

They will find more Cambodian girls than overstaying falangs.

The police will be a major beneficiary of later nightlife hours. They'll be rolling drunks faster than the bargirls  ;-)

Saw Africans?

I hope they inspected some of those garish Chinese-made 'massage devices' on sale at stalls all round that area to ensure that they don't electrocute the user.

On Soi Arab?

They should now pop down to Pattaya and check on the Indians who seem to be running lots of nightclubs in walking street and the huge number of Indian restaurants plus selling on stalls everywhere.

Funny how readers read Nana and immediately think of Soi 4 and post responses relating to that, when the report and photos clearly show they targeted Soi 3 and 3/1, the area favoured by Arabs. Maybe a sensible idea, considering the little skirmish going on the the Middle East.

Wonder how many of them on soi arab are actually here on legitimate visas

I must admit that when i read it I thought they went to visit the girls at the entertainment center.

Hands up!, face the wall, empty your pockets!, out comes Wrigley's gum and 2 baht in change, big score!!

All those words and they said nothing.

Very odd how Immigration sweeps always concentrate on nightlife areas. Keep pushing and Cambodia will have all your tourists and expats.

No hostages were found.

Are there no proof readers? So the cops now carry X-ray machines, and of course fully trained to use them, handy if you want a chest X-ray while out and about though, are they free?  :giggle::crazy:

Encouraging news given the outbreaks of violence and volatile protests worldwide on the occasion of Israel's response to Hamas attacks.   Thailand getting in the vanguard of warding off possible violence and tragedies.

Bangkok has a sizable middle eastern population in and around that ghetto, Soi 3 and surrounds.

If in plain clothes, why have Immigration Jackets?

Not the type of foreigner we want in Thailand.

They did miss the African ladies working along Soi 4 and living toward the end of the soi.

And in a subsequent post as you likely have done in the past you will no doubt complain about "racism" and discrimination directed at white westerners by Thai people, as you sit here literally promoting ethnic discrimination against darker skinned people.

Which are?

Maybe the 23 Thai hostages held in Gaza at the moment? (Not to mention all those murdered on Oct 7). Given the large presence of Thais in Israel and Thailand's past record in the Far South, crazies like Hamas and their supporters may see Thailand as being 'on the other side'.

Yeah, let's roust the tourists. THAT will keep them coming!

On the one end they complain about not having enough business, on the other they wanna through out the few mongers still dumb enough to pay crazy prices to boost their ego around sex workers. Where is the logic in that...

Populist bs imo.

I don't think I would consent to police X-Raying me.

Hundreds of africans along sukhumvit road every evening til late, openly selling drugs and prostitution, fed up every night these wasters being allowed to get in your face. Who is getting backhanded to allow this ?

If they looked hard enough they'd find arabs with well underage young boys and girls.
