webfact
In a tragic accident early on November 13th, a truck carrying approximately 6,000 ducks lost control while descending a hill and collided with an electricity pole near Pak Chong. The incident resulted in the death of thousands of ducks and minor injuries to three people. The accident occurred around 1:30 AM near a railway crossing in Nong Kha Cha, Pak Chong. The truck, a 6-wheeled Isuzu with registration 80-6573 from Ang Thong, overturned, scattering the ducks across the area. Residents and rescue teams worked together to round up the surviving ducks, reported Thai Rath. Driver Warawut Sae Chua, slightly injured, reported that he was transporting the ducks from Ang Thong to Roi Et with another truck. Opting for secondary roads to avoid main highways, they unexpectedly encountered a hilly and curvy route. The truck failed to brake at a railway crossing under construction, leading to the collision. Picture: Thai Rath Patrol Lieutenant Colonel Kritsada Pinij, Deputy Investigator at Pak Chong Police Station, indicated that the driver was unfamiliar with the route and likely overused the brakes on the preceding downhill curves, causing them to overheat. The resulting brake failure at the uneven terrain of the crossing led to the catastrophic crash. Fortunately, the three passengers, including the driver, sustained only minor injuries. Owner of the ducks, 63-year-old Patcharapong Ruengchaidechananon, was stunned by the incident. The ducks, valued at 120 Baht each, suffered significant losses, amounting to hundreds of thousands of Baht. Locals who came to the site were allowed to take some of the deceased ducks. Lieutenant Colonel Kritsada stated that the unfamiliar route and the driver's inexperience with such terrain contributed to the brake failure and subsequent accident. -- ASEAN NOW 2023-11-14 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Trucks do not currently brake themselves, usual reason driving too fast for conditions .....QED 1

I'm gobsmacked what an unusual story, hills and curves, brake failure. Sarcasm mode off. So why was he trying to avoid the main highways Mr. policeman?

Overweight load, apparently he had to stop every 500mtrs, got out, hit the side of the truck with a stick to keep them flying 😁
