Special Investigation officers in Phuket seized two luxury resorts in Rawai worth around one billion baht from an online gambling network. 


They detained one man with connections as an executive of a website called Ufa Bet, believed to be one of the largest gambling sites in the country.


Officers said the site has many affiliates supervised by high-ranking police officers, and has connections with sites based in neighboring countries.


The suspect initially denied involvement but later confessed to managing several bank accounts; his brother, who had fled the country, was the site's owner. 


The governor of Bangkok's local authority the BMA has urged the MRTA to take full responsibility for investing in three new monorail and light rail projects worth more than 150 billion baht.


He said the BMA had wanted to spend the budget on other priorities, such as improving people's quality of life and education.


The BMA plans to transfer three future projects to the MRTA, namely -- the Grey monorail line, the Silver Line, and an extension to the greenline.


Political activist Srisuwan Janya says he intends to petition the National Anti-Corruption Commission over comments made by Prime Minister Thavisin, the PM told party MPs that some people would be happy and others unhappy with the results of the upcoming appointment of new police station chiefs.


Critics say the remark acknowledges interference in those appointments.. The PM denied the accusation.


The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, expects this year’s Loy Krathong Festival to boost the economy by around 10 billion baht. The center says more than  87 percent of people believe the Thai economy will eventually improve. However, people remain cautious due to high prices and expect the economy to recover in the second half of 2025.

China has reported no "unusual or novel pathogens" in respiratory illnesses spreading in the north of the country, according to  the World Health Organization.


The statement was made after China recorded an increase in an "influenza-like illness" since mid-October when compared to the same period in the previous three years.
