Chang’an Automobile, China’s leading automotive company, received encouragement from the Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister, Phumtham Wechayachai, to invest in the research and development of electric vehicle (EV) parts in Thailand. This came about after a meeting between Phumtham and Churu Huarong, Chang’an Automobile’s Chairman today.

As a prominent player in the automotive industry, Chang’an Automobile has a strong track record of research and development across various aspects of car manufacturing. The company has established ten research and development centres in more than six countries, including China, Italy, Japan, the UK, the USA, and Germany. In collaboration with renowned car brands such as Ford, Mazda, Suzuki, and Peugeot, Chang’an Automobile has demonstrated its commitment to the advancement of the automotive industry.

In October, the Board of Investment (BOI) approved Chang’an Automobile’s proposal. The company’s significant foreign direct investment is set to be Thailand’s most substantial this year. Chang’an Automobile’s ambitious investment project marks its first major venture outside of China, aiming at production and development in related sectors such as technology, environment, human resources, and the electric automotive industry’s supply chain.
