On December 1st, a public bus operated by Chofer Corporation intended to apply brakes but accidentally hit the accelerator, resulting in a collision that injured several people.

 

The incident occurred near the entrance of Chulalongkorn University on Phaya Thai Road, Wang Mai District, Pathum Wan, Bangkok, reported Siam Rath.

 

The accident, involving a NEX-MINEBUS City Bus with registration number 16-7612, affected 18 vehicles, including a green and yellow Toyota Altis taxi with the license plate 1 มก 3503.

In addition to the damaged vehicles, four people sustained injuries and were promptly transported to nearby hospitals, including Tep Tharins Hospital, Hua Chiew Hospital, and IMS Silom Hospital.

 

The Chofer bus driver, 60-year-old Somchai Jangcharoen, claimed to have intended to brake but mistakenly pressed the accelerator, leading to the collision. Traffic congestion ensued as authorities worked to clear the affected vehicles during the Friday evening rush hour.

 

Pending further investigation, police are considering filing charges against the bus driver for causing property damage and injuries. The injured individuals' conditions will be assessed before determining the appropriate legal action.
