Well a shock today to say the least , my blood numbers have gone up :o . ( does this normally happen ?) If anyone with any genuine info on the following could respond so i may understand a little more, would be extremely appreciated.

FIRST LIVER FUNCTION TEST----------------------------------------------------------------------2nd----------------------------------------------Today

Total protein 6.8 g/dl--------------------------------------------------------------------------------6.8-----------------------------------------------7.2

Albumin 4.1-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------4.3-----------------------------------------------4.3

Globulin 2.7-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------2.5-----------------------------------------------2.9

A/G ratio 1.52-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------1.72----------------------------------------------1.48

Bilirubin ( total ) 6.6 ( normal range 0.2 - 1.3 )--------------------------------------------------1.4-----------------------------------------------0.9

Bilirubin ( direct ) 4.5 ( normal range 0.0 - 0.5 )-------------------------------------------------0.5------------------------------------------------0.3

Aspartate Transaminase ( AST ) 187 ( normal range 0 - 59 )----------------------------------63------------------------------------------------373

Alkaline Phosphatase 141 ( normal range 38 - 126 )--------------------------------82-----------------------------------------------122

Again I understand this to be a forum and no certified medical information can be given , but my first post certainly gave me alot of genuine and informative info. Hoping theres someone here that can offer some information in layman terms ( good or bad )

They have put me back on legalon 3 x 140mg a day and now something called essential 140mg x 3 a day

For Prakanong I'm off to Bkk in the morning , was unable to find a telephone number for the hospital you reccommended there last time , do you have one ? or at least a general number where id be able to find the right department? Thanks.

Thankyou , Worried :D

At Chula University Medical School Hospital there is a "Viral Hepitiis Research Centre"

Google it and you will get lots of their published works but I can not find their own site to get a number.

It would be the Department of Haematology I think it would be located in.

hope that heps but i am looking for a Thai colleague online who might be able to help better

OK got a number to try - my colleague asked a nurse at a Hep Unit and she suggested this number +662. 256.4265

Will have to register first before making appointement or something saying you will need to see a general Dr before getting referred to a specialist - seems to be like singapore then but i get round that by asking a Dr in the office to scribble a letter for insurance purposes

Another edit - after much questioning of me by my colleage (I think she thinks I have it??)

From her

"so pls tell him that Chula has special clinic (open after working hours) open around 5 pm ...here he will spend less time to meet a doctor but more expensive than general clinic"

Levels go up and down like yo yos depending on all sorts of factors. Unless you are testing every day it would be hard to recognise that fact. anyone coming back after a booze filled holiday is likely to have the same results as you. Underlying factors are more important. Dont touch a drop of alcohol and dont eat or drink a gram of fat, stay on a low calorie diet with fruit and veg. Reduce the load on your liver as much as possible. Follow that advice and you will be OK as long as you follow the doctors advice.

Prakanong this may well be over the top to ask but........

any chance you could copy and paste these numbers to your collegue so she may explain the reason why the change ?

She is not a Clinician so I was going to ask a Dr I sit close to.

I tried pasting them into MS word to ask a clinician ie Dr but they did not come out well enough to read ie

Aspartate Transaminase ( AST ) 187 ( normal range 0 - 59 )----------------------------------63------------------------------------------------373

What is the 373 at the end or is your level 63?

I will try to ask tomorrow.

Ratchabuild has it you know - if you look at anybodies LFA's after a boozy few days they look pretty bad. Dunno if thats your case but there are other factos as well.
