Justice Minister Not Empowered To Endorse Thaksin’s Extended Stay At Hospital

JUSTICE MINISTER THAVI Sodsong said today (Dec.6) he is not legally empowered to allow the “sickly” de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra to stay at Police Hospital beyond a 120-day period.

Thavi commented that whether the deposed prime minister could be legally allowed to stay on at the hospital for undisclosed “illnesses” will ultimately depend on Corrections Department director-general Sahakarn Petnarin to decide.

The department chief may officially endorse the admission of the deposed prime minister at the hospital if ever extended beyond the 120-day time which is due on Dec.22, according to the justice minister.

The justice minister said he himself is not allowed by law to do so otherwise he would be accused of unduly interfering in the business of the department chief.

  • Anyone out there really believe he'll be going back to prison?  No, me neither.

  • I expect he will go back to prison, then there will be another health emergency and he will be back in hospital with the clock reset to 0 days.

  • They have a seven-storey hospital adjacent to Klong Prem prison which is adequate.   He does not need an emergency operation that the medical corrections hospital is not equipped to deal wit

Not that Thaksin celebrates Christmas anyway but it looks like he'll be spending Christmas in jail (we'll see).

That sounds like a plan. It's good to see that his SPECIAL treatment is getting exposure.

He does not need an emergency operation that the medical corrections hospital is not equipped to deal with.

That is the reason prisoners are shipped out to the Police hospital when the medical corrections hospital doesn't have the facilities to deal with complex procedures.

It's a giant con.

They just make all look so impotent! Lucky the country is populated by predominately lowly educated masses or there could be trouble!

I suspect director-general Sahakarn will be getting a Rolls Royce for Christmas.

I very very much doubt it.

Those masses are his support base.

It's really ironic that Thailand is essentially financing a billionaire's hospital stay, simply to pretend that he's locked up. Might as well just set him free and save the taxpayers a bunch.

Do you really believe he's been in a hospital all this time?

Who to believe this is reality this should be made into a TV series TIT

"Not legally empowered"?! Once the brown envelopes fly to the right location, "legally empowered" won't matter! TIT

This place is an eternal soap opera!

And the well orchestrated pantomime continues all the while time keeps on ticking. It’s guaranteed when Sponge Bob is finally free he will be completely “cured” with him regaling stories of the heroic doctors who brought him back from the clutches of death with plenty of Wai-ing all around.

So what will he decide ...?

Thaksin as inofficial head of the government , is way too influential to oppose ...

he will be allowed to stay in hospital for a short time until he is liberated and and allowed to return to his home  in february .

Agreed, he will not be spending any 'real time' in prison, he is a slippery one?:whistling:

No worries, the paid-for doctors will qualify that he so poorly he cannot be moved until his pardon date.

Thailand stinks.

And the next envelop goes to:

Quietly at home well out of sight.

You presume alot. This guy just passed the buck to someone else. Who is to say this is not a ploy now to continue Thaksins hospital stay?

This 120-day ticker may be used to justify an early pardon, from February 2024 to the next two weeks.

Not likely. An exception will be made or an intervention.

Thaksin, the cat among the pigeons, he knew very well that his games and antics will cause controversy and discord but the man has a plan...

I am surprised Thailand has a Minister for Justice.

This guy will go in Guiness book of records as the most costly prisoner in the world. The daily cost of the supply of his lobsters, prawns, caviar and kobe beef airfreighted in fresh daily would feed all of Thailand's prisoners.😁

One lesson to be learned from this that doesn't seem to be mentioned is, don't trust medical facilities in Dubai. If someone as rich as Thaksin can have a check up and they still don't notice his serious medical issues, then I don't think us lesser mortals should risk our health.

Unless you're just going to visit a dictator in Cambodia for a birthday celebration. If you're invited you should be fine.
