Popular Post webfact
Thailand did not participate in the World’s Best Rice 2023 competition, held during the International World Rice Commission in Cebu, the Philippines, and will not do so in the coming years, Chukiat Opaswongse, honorary president of Thai Rice Exporters Association (TREA), said yesterday. His announcement came one day after Vietnam’s rice variety, ST25, was voted the best rice variety of the 30 varieties submitted for competition. Only three varieties from Vietnam, India and Cambodia reached the final round. The best variety was unanimously selected by a group of chefs in a blind tasting. Chukiat explained that if the Thai Hom Mali variety does not win first prize, people will question why Thailand did not win or what rice varieties were entered for competition. It now knows it cannot compete so does not intend to enter and have to submit the truth. 1 1
flyingtlger
That’s like saying, “I’m not going to compete because if I don’t win, everyone will think I’m a loser”. How pathetic… 1
StayinThailand2much
LOL. Worried to lose out to Vietnam and, perhaps, India? I'm sure, we will hear in the near future that 'Thai rice is still the best in the universe and beyond'... (This from the country that also invented a "Thai IQ", cause the average one for this country is so low.) Thai Hom Mali is not crap. However, there are now foreign varieties which are judged superior when compared

lungbing
I've stopped buying it. I suspect it's made up of one part genuine hom mali to give you the smell when you open the pack, and then two parts el cheapo to bulk it out.

This did not really explain it to me....... You have to at least be in it, to win it. A good ranking would be better than nothing surely.
