PRIME MINISTER-cum-Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin said this afternoon (Dec. 7) that talks are being held to set electricity rate at 4.10 baht per unit during January-April 2024 after Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) proposed hiking it to 4.68 baht a unit, Naewna newspaper said.

Addressing this issue during a lecture on the “Future of Thai Economy” organised by National Institute of Development Administration’s (Nida’s) Advanced Master of Management Programme, Srettha siad the current government is trying to reduce cost of living by slashing energy expenses particularly petrol prices and electricity rate as well as reducing debts.

The government had managed to reduce the power rate to 3.99 baht a unit and to again increase it to 4.68 baht a unit was unacceptable, he said.
