hello

I am married to a thai woman currently. We are living in germany, but we´re thinking about moving to bangkok...I am 24

So, I could get (based on our marriage) a non immigrant visa type o with multiple entry...right?

but then i would have to cross the border every 90 days? :D

I hope to do a TEFL certificate and find a job as english teacher there, but my income would only be about 30,000 baht per month. What then?? Would i have to leave? What are my chances to obtain an working permit with just a tefl certificate? :o

are there any job opportunities for native german speakers? i did a 3years traineeship as salesman engaged in wholesale and trade business does that helps me in any way?or is it worthless??

thx for your help!!!

Shure, come on over. You can join thousands of teachers here with the same qualifications you possess

dante, although I don't usually moderate in this visa forum, at your specific request I've cleaned up your opening post here so that people can understand your situation and advise you. Your command of English, as demonstrated in your posts, would disqualify you from teaching English. That's critical on my part, but it's critically important to your 'plan' to come here and teach English.

There is a good chance that you will have to leave Thailand when your wife is pregnant. Don't come, please.

But back on topic, his visa thingie: could our experts please tell him what visa he would need, monthly income requirements, etc.? We don't know if his wife can earn a salary, and his TEFL teaching salary in Bangkok (we're already debating over in the teaching forum about his chances of keeping a job, or being legal) might start at 25K and never exceed 30K, unless Dante is far more clever than his posts indicate.

One more request on this thread and poster, please: let's not be too, too critical now. Thanks.

Poster has been advised both on-forum and off-forum of visa requirements and was advised to take his teaching questions to the teaching forum (and believe he dual posted both here and there).

I wouldn't like to comment on the teaching aspect of your post but you should try and get the best visa for your aituation from a consulate in Germany. Obtaining visas which allow long periods of stay is becoming harder in Asia. Best of luck !

But from the wife it is everyday.

Hi Dante

Let me discribe to you how it works out to stay here legally on a year on year basis

1. you obtain a 3 months Non-immigrant visa in your country through the Thai Embassy

2. you arrive in BKK

3. you apply for a one year Non-Immigrant visa with the reason of staying together with your wife

4. you need to prove financially be able to support your family , either

- some company employ you and help you to apply for a work permit

- or you have a lum sum in the bank say 400,000 baht ( or a bit different , I am not sure now how much , but in this range )

- or you and your wife have monthly income of about 40,000 baht ( this amount is also depends on your nationality )

5. once approved, you can stay with a one year visa, and next year, you show your money again, but with a marriage visa, you CANNOT work legally UNLESS you have a work permit.

specifically about finding a job that is elligible for a work permit is NOT a simple or easy matter as you can image. so if somebody advise you not to come, this is not a bad advise. because if you think of supporting your life in BKK by having a job that can legally have a work permit is not easy, simple. You will need some luck and also you should expect to support your family by your own money for some time , until you find a job.

so you need to judge your financial ability and your profession.

good luck.

c18467, you’ve got a few things wrong but it does not matter because Lopburi already gave Dante the correct information.
