All pubs and bars across the country will be allowed to stay open until 6am on January 1st as a special case to promote tourism, Traisuree Traisoranakul, spokesperson of the Interior Ministry, said Monday.

She also said that Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has signed a regulation to allow such licenced premises in Bangkok, Chon Buri, Chiang Mai, Phuket and Ko Samui to stay open until 4am from December 15th, instead of the current 2am closing time.

If it is "safe enough' or suitable or whatever on that day to drink/stay open till 6AM why is not suitable etc on any other day of the year?

New Years day most people are not working?

Sobering up zones on standby?

What could possibly go wrong?

Absolutely no consideration for the staff that work in these places and have to work the next day.

At least,  the Emergency rooms and ambulances, are open 24/7.

One or two, are awake already.

Then peyhavs to drive back to cities for work on Tuesday.

Yep great plan.

Will be interesting see how many bars are open at 6.

Why close them at all?

Anyone know the zoning on thisIs it all bars in these provinces...or only in areas like RCA, Nana, Cowboy and Walking Street, etc?

That should help the New Year road death toll figures.

I don't work any day :burp:

If there are clientele who wish to enjoy themselves in bars into the early hours of the morning, then why not. Its good for business.

Personally I much prefer to be tucked up in bed by 2.00 am at the latest.
