At 13:50 on December 18, the Nakhon Thai Transport Company bus descended the winding road of Phu Thap Boek in Phetchabun when its brakes malfunctioned, resulting in a collision with the rear of an Isuzu D-Max pickup truck. The impact left three individuals injured.

The accident occurred on the S1 curve of National Highway 2331 (Cho Hoa-Phu Hin Rong Kla) in the sixth village of Ban Noen, Lom Kao district. Preliminary inquiries reveal that the bus, carrying only one tourist, was descending from Phu Thap Boek when the unexpected brake failure occurred on the S-curve, leading to the abrupt collision with the pickup truck. This particular section of the road, the S1 curve on the descent from Phu Thap Boek, has witnessed frequent accidents caused by vehicles descending too rapidly, resulting in brake failure.
