BANGKOK, Dec 20 (TNA) – Former Move Forward Party (MFP) leader Pita Limjaroenrat has testified in court to defend himself in the media shareholding case in which he will be disqualified as an MP if he is found guilty.

Pita was accused by the Election Commission (EC) that he violated the electoral law for holding shares in the iTV pcl. when he registered his candidacy to run in the May 14 election.

The EC submitted the petition to the Constitution Court to rule on the case.

The Constitutional Court is set to deliver its verdict in January 24 regarding the political future of the former Move Forward Party leader Pita Limjaroenrat.

He is accused of holding a stake in a media company, in violation of the election law, when he registered his candidacy in the May general election. The Election Commission (EC) brought the case before the court, seeking to strip Pita of his status as an MP.

Arriving at the court today to give his final testimony, Pita was accompanied by his lawyers and two bags of material evidence.

“I am ready to answer any questions raised by members of the Election Commission (EC) in today’s hearing,” he said.

EC Secretary-General Sawaeng Boonmee represented the EC at the hearing.

The court, in its statement issued after the hearing, said that the ruling will be given at 2pm on January 24.

After the hearing, Pita told reporters that he was pleased to have had the chance to tell his side of the story to the court for the first time.

THE CONSTITUTIONAL Court will hand down its verdict on a petition the Election Commission filed against former Move Forward leader Pita Limjaroenrat over holding 00.0035% shares in non-operating ITV channel on Jan. 24, 2024, Matichon newspaper said today (Dec. 20).

The court had ordered Pita to stop performing as MP on July 19 pending a ruling on the polling agency’s petition over holding the tiny fragment of the non-operating channel.

If found to have applied to run as an MP while holding shares in a media business, even though ITV stopped broadcasting a long time ago,  he could lose his MP status.

Pita has submitted his explanation in this case while the court has examined three witnesses and aside from Pita himself the other two are the polling agency’s secretary-general Sawang Boonmee and ITV executive director Kim Siritaweechai.

Without wishing to prejudice the outcome, my understanding is that trading in the shares had been suspended years ago, so Pita was unable to dispose of them.

To disqualify him on the grounds he had shares in this company seems against natural justice and to be entirely politically motivated. I look forward to the court making the right decision.

He inherited these shares and was not able to sell them due to the company being out of business .

We all know that this story was made up to prevent MFP to disturb the ruling elite .

Even most people voted for the change MFP promised , they found a way to ' eliminate ' the winner of the elections .

And now , we have the same old crap again , with just some new faces ...

Not much of a change to what was before ...

Hopefully the MFP will win the next election again , with or without Pita .

And learn about what needs to be avoided .

It took days to ban him but weeks to give a verdict on his appeal. Probably have to check with Thaksin first.

His screwed. The old guard will not want a competent politician running against them they will now use the courts to remove him. Best thing for him to do is return to.america and focus on his business and let someone else run maybe serving as an advisor on the quiet. Altho right everyone was telling him to drop 112 because he did not have the numbers to push through the change.

If it hadn't been the shares it would have been something else, they simply wanted him out of the way, he was too clean, too progressive, too forward leaning, too intelligent, and too capable of moving the nation forward away from the morass of corruption and moral rot, so the shares were just an excuse. From what I understand the company was already suspended and he really had no way of getting rid of the shares. This guy's just too smart to have committed a mistake like that. It was all about the status quo, the army maintaining a hand in the pot, and deeply foul and corrupt men in the background pulling strings.

This is about money grubbing lowlifes, trying to use their illegitimate positions, to deny the will of the people, having stolen an election, moving the nation backwards, and denying any kind of change or reform. This is a toxic power grab. These senators deserve a lifetime of pain and suffering. One can only hope the people will be bold enough to inflict that upon them.

Weak, pathetic, cowardly, self entitled hooligans, who are accustomed to a perch atop the ivory tower, scared to death of being taken down a notch, and being asked to be accountable for their heinous and unforgivable actions. Of course they will resort to whatever dirty tactics they can. That is who and what they are. Filth. They are the deplorables.

This is false. The company was still registered and filing its papers, but it was not broadcasting or active in any meaningful way.
