Ha, I live in 2-bedroom unit 7 years now and pay just $ 240 per week never had an increase at all. Still have 2 houses (on negative gearing in my wife's name) not to lose my pension. Disregard the 2 houses but you can afford it just don't live in the east.

How can you get the federal government old age pension even if the investment houses are in your wife's name?

income is  treated as a couple ,so it tells me you are being dishonest to the government ...or far more likely ...your talking BS😄

Sarah Vaughn has such a magnificent voice.

Moonlight in Vermont

After over 33 years since seeing America, I just wonder what kind of sh*tstorm has taken hold of the USA, such that it has ended up this way.

For sure, many decades ago, it was NOT this way.

I know,

I was there in the 50s.

A time when New England was New England.....

Paradise Lost, and I shall never return to witness the devastation....ever.

He says he lives in a UNIT.

Years ago, people lived in dwellings, apartments, flats, and houses.

Now...

We live in UNITS.

Just like we all consume widgets.

Such a travesty.

It is no better in Australia, with rents at an all-time high.

Same story in Kanada - under Turdeau's liberals - only things might be harder for the homeless in Kanada because it's colder for longer and the immigration tap is fully open compared to Oz, even with insufficient housing stock, thereby limiting the number of available dwellings. It's nuts. The country is broken in ways that it wasn't when I was in my 20s-30s. Planning my exit!

Addiction affects somewhere around (approximately) ten percent of humans.

There is no cure.

The only solution is to....

Send them to rehab?

But, then....some will tell you...

Pure SLEEZE...

Is this the best we, as humans, can aspire to?

No

No

NO!

Better to be a Vivaldi...rather than....

A Junkie.... in

Philly....

I guess.

By the Way....  The ATLANTIC has a nice and short article concerning the cause of California's homelessness.  It seems on target and valid....

The recipie to create poverty/homelessness is as follows:

- With legislation, make sure that the rich are getting richer.

- With legislation and economic policies, make sure that the factor "labor" becomes cheaper all the time.

Therefore: If one has only "labor" to offer with no "Capital", one can only lose in this game.

Conclusion: The only true "Growth-Industry" in the West will be "poverty".

I always listen to Noam Chomsky expound on these topics.

But, yes, you are correct that the Americans are unable to vote due to the fact that Democracy has been crushed in the USA.

There is NOTHING to vote FOR that matters.

Most Americans have no idea about the causes of what is happening to them, these days.

So, they blame it on conspiracy theories and engage in plenty of superstition.

Meanwhile, the divide between the rich and poor becomes even more obscene.

It's due to inflation. Most people in the Usa live paycheck to paycheck with minimal savings at right about or slighly more then they can afford. Even a small increase in inflation causes homelessness to spike.

That explains a lot.
