Yearly government car inspection?

Lets say the car failed at the yearly car inspection(for cars older than 7 years?), do they keep that record in the computer or a you free to try another garage?

the garage sends their inspection report, with video of the test to the DLT so that they can't just test random car, but looks like they only keep it for a couple of weeks, cause if you went to pay for road tax later than the date on inspection report, the inspection you'd done is no longer on file and you have to have another one done.

But I think you are suppose to return to the same garage in case you failed, subsequent test is then half priced, if you go to other garages you have to pay full price
