Which of these apps have you used for TAXI ?

BOLT
Worked OK for local transport in Pattaya and cheap.
In Phuket mixed experience.
Driver not capable to understand that I am at the DOMESTIC terminal.

Took endless. Terrible noise from at least 3 mobiles in the car (ding dong ding dong at full volume... driver fiddling on the devices).

Price not much less than regular taxi.

On the way back in the morning needed almost 20 minutes to catch one.

Repeated cancellations.
As Phuket if off the list for me there is no chance of using again anyway.

Never heard of the rest, get the impression they are all transport apps, in which case we self drive. Unless at Krung Thep, then rail or bus lines.  Rare to be in a taxi.

We use Maxim a lot in Hat Yai, very reliable and you know what you're paying, so better than the laughable Hat Yai (No) Meter taxis, and cheaper and more comfortable than a local tuk-tuk. 

 

I've used Grab in Bangkok, with varying results.

I think Maxim is available in Hat Yai because it's widely used in Malaysia, and most of our visitors are from Malaysia.

Grab, Bolt, InDrive…

 

I’ve seen a few others such as ‘All Thai Taxi (yellow Prius) that aren’t on the list.

Some of These apps encompass alot more than just "for Taxi"

 

Ah yes I see now, moderators changed my post, why?

Grab, Lineman, Robinhood all offer other services apart from just taxi

I almost always only use Bolt in Phuket for taxi. So much cheaper than grab. 

They offer different options and usually the cheapest option guides at 10mins for pickup and even then it often cancels, if you can get one at all. If you choose the next cheapest option it works almost as efficient as Grab and is still much cheaper. Wouldn't recommend using it on a tight timeline as drivers will choose to do a Grab pickup before a Bolt pickup to earn extra cash if they have the choice. Hence the cancellations.

 

Grab for food delivery is quite pricey considering they add a charge onto the price of the meals compared to buying at restaurant then they also charge delivery and other charges in top. Still doesn't stop me from using it. I just paid 230 baht for a medium sized starbucks which I thought was ridiculous. Shouldn't have paid that really its a rip off

Maxim is in Udon and Chiang Mai too.

I don't think it's available in Bangkok.

The app only indicates car, bike or delivery.

In Malaysia Maxim is available in most cities.

Always used Grab in Hat Yai & found the drivers very reliable (Had 2 very positive experiences with 1 driver being very understanding when I booked the wrong "Central" hotel for pickup, another let us know that the restaurant we were aiming for had moved & took us to the right place. 

 

I haven't heard of Maxim before but will download it now & use it try it out on my next trip to Satun.

I hadn't realised Grab worked for transport in Hat Yai, I've only used it for food delivery and shopping. Maxim started last year in Hat Yai and they have a lot of drivers signed up, so you don't need to wait too long for a pick-up, even for us living the wrong side of the tracks in Hat Yai Nai.

Bolt 300 Bt more expensive from Pattaya to Central Bangkok than an ordinary Thai taxi.

I think maybe changed after my reply, as posted about non Taxi apps I use.  Really wasn't sure if they were all transport apps., since not knowing most of them.

Not used any. When I need a taxi which is rarely, I hail a meter cab.

I've used Grab in Thailand ( mostly Bangkok) and Vietnam, Bolt in Thailand and UK. Never had any problems with the drivers anywhere; the only problems stem from the traffic and they can't do much about that. 

I've also used a local driver who advertised on the Facebook group for our mu baan, offering anything from a normal taxi ride to a full guided tour of the city. They've been excellent. Drove two young guests to Pattaya* for 1300 baht. 

 

* Big culture shock for them - first trip outside Europe 😄

A taxi on the meter would not be 300 baht less.

Not on the meter. Fixed price. I never use a taxi on the meter for that journey, all it takes is an accident on the highway or some other hold up and the meter keeps going. Do Bolt insist using the meter? Bolt said between 1,500Bt and 1,700bt, a normal taxi is 1.400Bt.

The pic is from the app at the time of posting and Bolt's price was as shown. Not sure where you got the 1,500 to 1,700 baht from. Do a dummy booking and you'll see a price from Bolt.

Use Bolt in and around Patts and Na Jomtien. Only use car, never bike.

However have noticed since last December wait times are a lot longer, was typically 10 to 15 mins, now more likely 20 to 25 mins. Not sure if Bolt is busier, or less drivers.
