Yep ,just like Putin. Although he doesn't poison the opposition, but that could be because  his secret agents lack the skills. Or because it's not a Cambodian tradition. In Cambodia you lock them up.

Hun Sen definitely had Chea Vichea assassinated.

Looks like he is still up to his killing ways. Once a serial killer, always a serial killer, goes the old adage.

A supporter of Cambodia’s Candlelight Party was shot dead in Tbong Khmum province over the weekend, the latest in a series of attacks on the opposition in a year of local elections and campaigning for 2023 parliamentary voting, his wife and supporters said Monday.

Candlelight Party’s vice-chairman Thach Setha told RFA that he could not yet conclude whether the killing Sunday of Po Hin Lean, a 49-year-old father of three, was a political assassination. He urged authorities in the province’s Ou Reang Ov district to conduct a prompt investigation.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for students at a university in Phnom Penh on October 17. Hun Sun said he would “eliminate the three generations of the ideology of the contemptible traitor [Sam Rainsy]...but I will not kill you."

Hun Sen, who has ruled Cambodia since 1985, was responding to recent remarks by Sam Rainsy criticizing the strongman’s plans to appoint his son, Hun Manet, as his replacement.

“I believe there will be strong opposition to Hun Sen's transfer of power to his dynasty. We want a succession of young Cambodians who are capable and accomplished, but we do not want a succession of clans in a family that is above everyone else and that has the right to rule Cambodia forever, ” Sam Rainsy said in a video

"Thailand is becoming an embarrassment to the rest of the world !!!!"  Becoming?? It has been since the illegal coup by Prayuth and the rest of his soldiers. A guy with an average low Thai IQ leading a country backed by soldiers, guns, and tanks and getting away with it for 9 years.

I am no financial expert but does the fact that since he and his soldiers left office the UK pound has got stronger from around 40 Baht to around 45 Baht to the GBP not tell you anything?

It's always been said that once you get out of hospital and are surrounded by loving family that recovery gets better much quicker, now he's got that we should see him bounce back to good health, now he's got sunshine, fresh air and family and friends surrounding him, it's a miracle.

As very good fit for the oppressive and a sadistic army here. Hun Sen himself was the mafia in Cambodia. He was a money grubbing, power hungry, land grabbing multi billionaire, who stopped at nothing to maintain his power, and amass more fortune. In addition, his resume includes many years as a commander in the Kymer Rouge, where he engaged in serial killing. Quite a leader. He is getting old, and is paranoid. His personal security detail numbered over 5,000 men. There are countless people who want him dead. He corned the media and silenced his critics just like the Thai army does. The real scandal, is why all the western power are complicit in his crimes, and have always supported his brand of fake democracy? Where is the condemnation? Where are the sanctions? Where is the UN in all of this?

Now, he has passed the baton to his son with a fake election. Another despot ruler. What can one say?

I remember Little Johnny Howard at an Asean or Apec or some other junket meeting in Vientiane  years ago holding hands for a group photo wearing some colourful matching shirts with all these despots and dictators ,and thinking  it shows what high principles we have.As Groucho said "These are my principles.and if you don't like these ,I have others"

His personal security detail numbers over 5,000 men. There are countless people who want him dead. Of course he is tried to curb the media. Just like PT and the army here. He had his political opponents, such as Chea Vichea, and Sam Rainsy eliminated, or imprisoned, much like Putin.

With the greatest respect, Sam Rainsy is very much alive and well, living in exile in France. He is still a thorn in the side of the Cambodian Government. In absentia, he has been charged and found guilty of several political charges, including a life sentence for treason by ceding ethnic minority land to Vietnam. He vows to return to Cambodia to establish true democracy but attempts to enter his country via Thailand (and other nations) have been blocked - reference:

In August 2019, Rainsy announced his intention to return to Cambodia on Independence Day on 9 November. The government confirmed that they would arrest him should he return on that date.[42] The Cambodian government responded by threatening any airline that transported him to Cambodia with "serious consequences".[22] The government of Thailand, from where he planned to travel to Cambodia by land, also denied him entry at the request of Cambodia.[23] Rainsy was denied boarding on a Thai Airways flight from Paris to Bangkok,[21] from where he planned to travel to Cambodia, on 7 November, despite having a valid ticket. He said he will find another way to return to his country.

I meant they attempted to imprison Rainsy. He was charged with fake crimes, much like Pita was here.
