More than 30 senators have expressed a wish to take part in the no-confidence debate against the government of Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin, tentatively before the end of this month.

Initiated by a group led by Senator Seri Suwanpanont, a motion, seconded by 98 of his peers, was submitted to the Senate Speaker, seeking a censure debate on seven key issues, in accordance with Section 153 of the Constitution. No vote will be taken after the debate, which will take about 12 hours for the senators to speak and three hours for rebuttals by the government.

Economic and cost of living problems will be the key issues for debate by ten senators, who will take the floor to grill ministers in charge of economic affairs. It is reported that the controversial “digital wallet” scheme and the land bridge mega project will also feature in the debate.

Unfortunately those 30 have just put a target on their backs. If only this was a true democracy they wouldn’t have to worry, but as it stands, they are not going to fair well.

This could have two possible scenarios. The 'grilling' isn't actually much of a grilling because they (the military) want the stooge to hang around for a bit longer or it will be a real "grilling" and paradoxically will be in support of MFP's no confidence call because in one fell sweep they can get rid of both MFP (Constitutial Court) and PT.

why do i sense a puke thai ploy? have a debate... then have puke thai seem to win and come out squeaky clean. was Senator Seri Suwanpanont friend or foe during the tax-sin era? did he vote for sreta during the choosing of the pm?

this report came out 13 hrs ago, and so did this one

That's a laugh.  The sentate are controlled by the military until the next senate elections in May.

And, let's be honest, it will still be after then also. Thailand is a kleptocratic state painted with a thin white wash of democracy.

Wouldn't it be fun if the WHOLE of the Lower House refused to recognize the dissolution of MFP! and carried on as though nothing had happened.

What then? I wonder.

Won't happen but one can always dream.

Hence the EC complaint to the Constitutional Court to dissolve the MFP?

I would like to see someone bring up the Governments mishandling

of the smoke problem in Thailand ,happens every year ,they know

it's going to happen ,but do nothing , nothing proactive ,just put

the fires out ,but they want to debate the "Wallet money" and

land bridge ,which i doubt will ever come to fruition .

Um, not sure you've got the sequence right there.
