In a bold move that has left House Republicans divided, Marjorie Taylor Greene has set her sights on Speaker Mike Johnson, risking a potential upheaval that could reverberate through the halls of Congress. Greene's push to oust Johnson not only threatens to plunge the House into another period of leaderless paralysis but also poses a significant challenge to the Republican establishment.

With her resolution to remove Johnson looming, Greene has positioned herself as a formidable force within the GOP, signaling her intent to reshape the party's trajectory towards a more conservative stance. However, her strategy carries inherent risks, including the possibility of inadvertently pushing Johnson into collaboration with Democrats on critical issues like Ukraine aid.

While some Republicans view Greene's maneuver as a calculated chess move aimed at realigning the party's priorities, others express concern about the potential fallout. Johnson, facing pressure from both his conservative base and an increasingly polarized political landscape, finds himself navigating treacherous waters as he seeks to maintain control amidst growing dissent.

The looming showdown over Johnson's leadership underscores deep divisions within the Republican ranks, with tensions between his allies and critics reaching a boiling point. While Greene claims to have silent supporters within the party, many Republicans remain skeptical of her tactics, wary of the chaos that could ensue from another leadership battle.

As Greene accelerates her timeline for triggering a vote on Johnson's ouster, GOP leaders are bracing for the fallout, keenly aware of the delicate balance of power at play. With Democrats closely monitoring the situation, Johnson's fate hangs in the balance, contingent on his ability to navigate the turbulent political waters ahead.

Ultimately, Greene's gambit represents a pivotal moment for the Republican Party, with the outcome poised to shape its trajectory for years to come. As the House braces for a potential shake-up, the stakes couldn't be higher, leaving both sides grappling with the uncertain road ahead in an already tumultuous political landscape.

They need to get rid of that broad,it’s unbelievable to me that they would even think of ousting Johnston for the budget he needs to grow a pair and be more bipartisan to nuter trump and the rest of his destructive cronies

MTG is doing Trump's bidding.  That is, to make sure the Congress accomplishes nothing between now and the election.  Government shutdown?  Love it.  No bills to address the border?  Yeap.  Nothing for Ukraine, Gaza, and Israel?  Why of course.  In her/Trump's pea-brain, if Congress does nothing, Biden will get blamed.  Except all of America can see what's happening.  Even the Speaker, himself a far righter, is trying to govern a little bit.  Useless toads like MTG have no business being in the Congress.  All she wants to do is make some noise and fundraise off it.

One can only hope this to be correct.

You mean like this one...  Over half of voters say they are worse off compared to 2020

You're making no sense. What voters say about being worse off than 2020 has absolutely no bearing whatsoever on the turmoil the Republican party currently finds itself in, over its internal politics.

It certainly looks as if there is a concerted effort to make Congress as dysfunctional as possible. I'm guessing that this is create the space for the argument that a "reset" is needed, which will place the real power in the hands of the Presidency, Congress to really only operate as a talking shop and rubber stamp.

Add in the manipulation of the electoral system (particularly the electoral college) and a collapse of the judicial system (currently a work in progress) and Bobs your Uncle, or more accurately, Trumps your President, (followed in due course by whoever he chooses).

It hinges on checks and balances, Congress and the Courts. The thrust is to remove them from the ball court. If that is achieved, American Democracy is gone.

There is another one gaining prominence, Nancy Mace.  Get in between her and a television camera and your life is at risk.  (Actually, that statement was recycled from a joke about DT from the 1990s.)  You may recall her from that Stephanopoulos accusation a few weeks ago.  What I would like to see is a Thunderdome-style MAGA cage fight for VP: Mace, Margie and Boebert: "3 women enter, only one leaves."  Here she is in one of her finer moments.

As for that old quote about getting the face you deserve, just about anything that blows up in Margie's face would be an improvement.
