Sunak risks losing seat in election shock poll suggests Tories will be left with 98 MPs

A recent poll conducted by Survation suggests that Chancellor Rishi Sunak faces the risk of losing his seat in the upcoming general election, with the Conservative Party projected to have fewer than 100 Members of Parliament (MPs). The poll, which surveyed 15,000 individuals, indicates a significant loss for the Tories, particularly in Scotland and Wales, where they would be wiped out entirely, leaving only 98 seats in England.

Conversely, the Labour Party is predicted to achieve a landslide victory, securing 468 seats, with the Scottish National Party (SNP) gaining 41 seats, the Liberal Democrats 22 seats, and Plaid Cymru two seats.

This projection represents a substantial swing away from the Tories compared to the 2019 general election, where they won 365 seats. The poll also suggests a strong performance by Richard Tice's Reform UK party, which is forecasted to come second in seven seats and garner an overall vote share of 8.5 percent, trailing slightly behind the Liberal Democrats at 10.4 percent.

The study, commissioned by the pro-EU Best for Britain campaign group, indicates that several Cabinet ministers, including potential leadership contenders, could face defeat in the election. Commons leader Penny Mordaunt, Home Secretary James Cleverly, and Defence Secretary Grant Shapps are among those projected to lose their seats, based on constituency-level results.

However, Business Secretary Kemi Badenoch, former Home Secretary Suella Braverman, and ex-Immigration Minister Robert Jenrick are expected to retain their seats.

In Sunak's constituency of Richmond and Northallerton, traditionally a Conservative stronghold, he holds only a slim 2.4 percent lead over Labour. Similarly, Chancellor Jeremy Hunt faces a narrow one percent margin over the Liberal Democrats in his Godalming and Ash seat.

Best for Britain Chief Executive Naomi Smith characterized the polling results as indicative of a significant shift away from the Tories, suggesting that the upcoming election will be a "change election."

The poll was conducted between March 8-22 and involved 15,029 adults. Additionally, there are signs of Reform UK's growing influence, with Tory MP Bob Seely revealing that he had been approached to defect to the Nigel Farage-linked party, although he declined, citing his commitment to loyalty.

Best news I've had all day.

15000 people polled spread over the different constituencies doesn't sound very reliable.

That's 98 MPs too many.

I see the lefties are out.............:clap2:

Bring back Boris, though I think Penny Mordaunt would probably make the daily takeaway munchers sit up and doff their caps.........:stoner:..............😂

Sounds like Braverman for shadow PM and Jenrick for shadow chancellor of the exchequer, post election.

Assuming of course the Tories retain enough seats to be the Party of Opposition.

I thought he was Prime Minister, not Chancellor.......

I think Johnson’s misdemeanours were more than a beer, for a start he lied to the Queen, then lied again in Parliament denying any involvement in parties and prorogued Parliament illegally.

Judging by what we saw of the Boris Johnson party, I hope I'm never invited to one, but a Keir Starmer party is another kettle of fish......Chicken Korma for me Keir, Angela Raynor will have her usual chips with mushy peas.

If they are standing in my constituency I think I will be voting for the genuine Monster Raving Loony Party candidate. It might be hard to find the real one with all the other Loonies up for election, but from what I have seen lately in parliament the MRLP certainly would fit in well with the current mob running the country.

Sadly David, Lord Sutch, 3rd Earl of Pinner died in 1999.

IMHO he would have made a better PM, than the last few the UK has had.

Not a fan of the policies, but I don't think sunak is doing a bad job. He is simply in an impossible position due to his fellow conservatives.

I think that Labour will win, convincingly. I don't think the Tories will be wiped out quite as comprehensively.

I would shed no tears if James Cleverly, Grant Shapps or Hunt lost their seats, although I hope Penny Mordant keeps hers - she is the best hope for rebuilding the Tories.

They have brought it on themselves. The dye was cast when they turned on Johnson.

No, she is not.   She uttered the lie that "trans women ARE women".   For that statement alone she should be nowhere near the conservative party and should join one of the other parties that pretend they believe that lie.

500 pollies too many

5000 illegals crossed the channel so far this year, if i was in the UK at lection time, no way I would vote for him
