Highly recommend staying by the river. it is usually cooler and, unless you plan to do lots of shopping, gives you great travel opportunities on the new, cheap public boats...

not going shopping, just eat, sleep, and exercise and use the facilities at the hotel as much as possible. Have a few favorite restaurants we use for the evening.

a few of them

Buffet https://www.gojikitchenbangkok.com/

No Idea

Kai New Zealand in Silom

25 Degrees Burger Bar

Any top Indian restaurants ? Have been to a few, and its ok. One at Holiday in Sukhumvit

Kai - (as already mentioned) is excellent, as is the Buffet at the Marriott (Goji - one of the best in BKK).

Other recommendations:

Helena - https://helenabangkok.com/

El Mercado - https://elmercadobangkok.com/  (main branch)

Found a great offer with breakfest at Hilton next to Icon Siam, and booked two nights there, before heading for Divalux, a nice airport hotel.

Both have great fitness/ gym and ok swimmingpool.

Thanks to those of you who contributed with nice suggestions.

Marriott Soi 2 has an excellent gym...not the best pool for size and I'm struggling to think of a great one in a hotel in lower Sukhumvit....I use one in Phra Khanong called Opus...superb 25m pool and always quiet....the Marriott has a good jacuzzi and sauna however.

For eats I suggest the Italian, Via Emilia...you need to book however....for a superb krapow try Krapow Gapae off Asoke.

Windsor suites I enjoyed staying before, had a great gym. Now been closed since after covid.

Top floor of Emquartier has a Virgin gym and excellent lap pool but the best thing there is the jacuzzi pool...really worth trying once just for the experience....towels provided but a whopping 800 Baht I think for single use.

Its over 5k Baht a month for membership so I moved to Phra Khanong.

Rang Mahal closes its doors for good at the end of this month I believe.
