BANGKOK (NNT) - The government has announced a temporary suspension of the 'To Mo 6' (TM6) immigration form for foreign travelers at various land and sea entry points. The move, effective from April 15 to October 15, is designed to streamline immigration procedures and reduce congestion. The TM6 form, which requires foreigners to provide passport and personal travel details upon entry and exit, was already abolished for air travelers in July 2022.

The suspension will affect sixteen immigration checkpoints across Thailand. For land entries, the eased regulation covers checkpoints in Sa Kaeo, Mukdahan, Nong Khai, Chiang Rai, Songkhla, Narathiwat, and Yala. Specifically, the Mukdahan and Nong Khai checkpoints will only apply this suspension to travelers using designated overland and rail transportation routes.

Maritime entries will also see simplified processes at ports in Chon Buri, Rayong, Phuket, Krabi, and Surat Thani. This includes major tourist destinations, including Pattaya, Phuket, and Samui, where the suspension facilitates easier access for those arriving by cruise ships and yachts.

This six-month period of eased immigration controls aligns with Thailand's efforts to enhance tourism accessibility and efficiency at its borders. The government has identified these specific checkpoints based on their high traffic of foreign visitors and strategic importance to international travel.
