Former Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra, paid a visit to Phuket Island, which turned out to be his second trip after being released on parole from three corruption charges in February.

Thaksin was spotted enjoying a stroll on the busy Bangla walking street in Patong Beach on Monday night. He was in the company of Chart Pattana Kla Party leader, Suwat Liptapanlop. Images of his Phuket visit were posted on two widely followed local Facebook pages; Phuket Info Center and Monsoongarbage Thailand.

One of the posted pictures displayed Thaksin being greeted by a local. The Facebook posts highlighted that Thaksin's visit was intended to promote tourism in Phuket, globally renowned as a paradise island.

Thaksin had been released on parole citing severe illness. However, his recent appearances in Phuket and other locations post-release indicate otherwise. His Bangkok home, Chan Song La, has been a meeting place for many high-profile individuals, including present Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and Cambodia's former PM Hun Sen.

Thaksin has also visited his birth province, Chiang Mai, twice. Chiang Mai was formerly a stronghold of the Pheu Thai party which Thaksin established and is now led by his youngest daughter, Paetongtarn. However, following the general election last year, the party lost its popularity in Chiang Mai to the Move Forward party. Reports suggest that his visit to the province was aimed at recapturing lost votes.

It is also speculated that Thaksin's visit to Phuket was a strategic move by the Pheu Thai party to increase its popularity amongst voters.

When did house arrest end?

He certainly looks like he's just been at Death's Door, poor dab. I wonder if he found some 18-year old cutie to take back to his hotel for a game of hide the 74-year old sausage?

Thumbs up 👍 for the amazing health-treatment Thaksin received during his imprisonment, it seems to work extremely well...:whistling:

This is a copy of news earlier - why rehash it ?

Better than in Dubai anyway. From what I can tell they never noticed he was so ill.

Wow! So wonderful to see his recovery! He was at death's door until he was able to receive the amazing medical care in Thailand. And maybe he was able to make it back up to Chiangmai to do breathing exercises of that beautifully fresh air up there. He's not even in a wheelchair, no neck brace, no ventilator! Heck nobody is even keeping their hand on him to help him with his balance! I guess keeping out of politics also helped relieve the stress load.
What an modern miracle and example for all to follow!

Pushing it a bit far.

When's he going to enter back into politics?

Good thing he has all those people around him. He needs to be sure they are near enough to catch him when he falls over and dies. We all know he is that ill otherwise the prison board would not have granted his release for medical reasons.

He already has, keep up

Isn't he seriously sick?

If anybody got doubts about the knowledge of Thai docs as quacks ......here is the proof of just the opposite. Excellent treatment for a infamous(?) convict. No health issues anymore. Like magic.🙏

Wow good to see he has made a full recovery, a miraculous recovery from the debilitating illness while in jail oops sorry hospital, that early release seems to have given him a new lease on life

Jeez, you oh so witty Mr T obsessives really are scraping the bottom of the humour barrel.

Repeating yourselves makes the uninformed, eg "house arrest", comments just go to show how bereft of originality you obsessives truly are.
