When you act like an arrogant superior prat?

When you buy bbq chicken from the market stall and feed it to a dog

3 when you shout boo in the middle of a horror movie

4 when you laugh at their ghost stories

5 when you use your neighbours spirit house as a goalpost

This thread might do it.....

When you break wind at high velocity! :o (not)

Seriously..

Suggesting & or insisting that doing something that the Thai person does not want to do would be beneficial for them. That winds them up.

Soundman.

Lecturing the local rice farmers on superior Western ploughing methods

Giving them a book which explains superior Western ploughing methods

Offering to set up a workshop with the aim of explaining how they are not ploughing as good as we do in the west

Thai people get upset when you do not accept the "face" being presented.

buying a local mobile phone company off them. Topples governments, that one.

Not giving them all your money!

When you are in a hurry, not stopping the car for a quick som tum fix at the random shop that has caught the Thai person's eye....

Thai people generally welcome tourists and make allowances for us. The main grizzles I have found are:

* Burping after a meal

* Passing gas (Is it true Thai people don't fart?)

* Farangs who do not shower enough.

* Farangs who fail to show respect for their culture

not accepting silence as a response during a dispute, but instead demanding answers.

ie I understand that you lost the camera darling, but when do remember last seeing it?

you discovered all of this firsthand as a tourist? you must be a real delight to pass the time with.

insinuating something they said or did was stupid, even lightly in passing.

it is ok to tell someone they are fat or ugly, but stupid is an insult.

much the opposite to western culture where you can call somone anidiot but you cant tell them they are fat

JUST ASK A QUESTION, WHY IS THE BEST.

not being able to openly vent what upsets them :o

I do believe we have a winner ........................... :o

Using the phrase Khon ban Kwai! (you are a buffalo) will start a lively discussion.

However it is perfectly ok to refer to someone as a pig or a monkey though.

At least my wife thinks it's funny.

Thai people not only fart, but it is a source of endless amusement to many. While they may not want to cut one in public, they will find it entertaining if you do, and farting ranks as a fail-safe source of fun among friends and family.

Opening decent supermarkets.

Deciding to share your art work by painting it on billboards in Chiang Mai which already have a picture on them

Neeranam's intention, I am guessing, was a lighthearted thread, not an ultra-negative Thai dissing thread.

Please remember the forum rules when posting :o

I'm not so sure about how letting a huge one rip in a crowded elevator would elevate one's status in the local community. :o:D

Being brought up in farting environment, two brothers, no sister, and my dad famous for multi-octave anal arias; I was quite surprised that I had married in to another farting culture. Really I would have been happy to lose that bit of heritage. I must say however the Thais don't seem to have as much creativity, the act I guess is enough.

Got me, Neeranam. Couldn't help myself there as I could see it coming. And, it turns out, I was right. :o
