A private firm in Nong Suea, Pathum Thani, raised an alarm about a group of men dressed as monks gathering at their private property, sparking an official investigation. The Office of Buddhism in Pathum Thani took up the case, collaborating with related agencies for a surprise check at the 20-rai property.

The team found over 27 men, dressed as monks, living in the property. Among them was a person named Banthom who was caught with drug-related items. He confessed to the police of having consumed two amphetamine pills.

Further, three others were asked to leave the monkhood for reasons such as drunkenness, not having a proper association, and not being accepted by their original group. The remaining 23 are still being investigated.

The group was ordered to leave the property within three days, said Teerawat Hemmara, a lawyer for the property-owning company. Apparently, a partner from the company had allowed the monks to live on the premises about ten years ago, but this partner did not have the right to make such decisions about the property, according to Pattaya News. The company had only recently discovered the monks' presence and lodged an official complaint with the Office of Buddhism in Pathum Thani, leading to the investigation.

There are many monks who are not real monks, but with a past.. Why is a new order not allowed in fact? In Christianity there are many abbeys and religious people who founded a new order....Ther is no claim on the right religion and as long as they don't harm anyone there is no problem imo
