A former Muay Thai boxer-turned-drug dealer, named Supakrit, aged 21, has been caught by the Thai police in a noodle shop at Din Daeng, Bangkok. He had a considerable amount of illegal drugs, including crystal methamphetamine and ketamine, on him.

Police officer Adthaporn Wongsiripreeda, a major general, led the investigation, tracking down and arresting Supakrit by acting on information received from an informant. Once caught, the ex-boxer guided the police to a rented space where they discovered more drugs.

Supakrit's arrest happened on May 27 at around 5pm, as part of a larger operation to curb drug trafficking in the Din Daeng area. The Metropolitan Police Division 1 found him after a warrant was issued by the Criminal Court on May 24.

He is being charged with selling and owning category one narcotics (crystal methamphetamine and Yaba) with an intention to sell. In addition, he is also being accused of selling and possessing ketamine, a category two psychotropic substance, without permission.

During questioning, Supakrit confessed to having more drugs stashed in a rented room. Police found 26.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 15.8 kilograms of ketamine there. Supakrit told the police that after leaving boxing he became involved in cockfighting. He began dealing drugs to support his gambling habit.

After the capture, Supakrit and the recovered drugs were moved to Din Daeng Police Station for further legal action. Following this development, another arrest warrant has been issued for another drug dealer.

Thai authorities have underlined the value of community cooperation in reporting information that could lead to catching drug traders. They promise to stay committed to decrease the distribution of illicit drugs and ensure public safety.
