Can anyone recommend a English speaking doctor or clinic in That Phanom or Nakhon Phanom? Thanks

If you would use Google translate on your smart phone your conversation will be translated simultaneously. So no need of an English speaking doc who will plaster your ears with medical vocabs which you can't understand🙏

Most doctors in Nakhon Phanom Hospital speak some English. A number of them speak the language very well. If you pay for a check-up, they will diagnose your problem and find someone who can explain the results.

Same is true at Golden Jubilee medical center in Salaya (affiliated with Mahidol) but without knowing what the problem is I can"t say if either place apprppriate. Also no way of knowing what level of English fluency is really needed.

OP needs to provide some details.

Wrong province, Sheryl. He is asking about Nakhon Phanom not Pathom.

OP, as @Ombra said, some of the doctors at the main hospital in Nakhon Phanom have a smattering of English as do some at the Mukdahan International Hospital.

You are right  my mistake. I often confuse these 2 provinces

Suggest OP go to Nakhon Phanom provincial hospital using the "after hours clinic" (usually starts around 4 PM) and tell the nurse he needs a doctor who speaks English well. Going through the public channel he will not be able to specify this and also will  see only student doctors or interns.

Alternatively could go to Mukdahan Int Hosp and tell the nurse/clerk he needs an English speaking doctor. (Despite the " International" in the name not all doctors will speak English  but some will ...and among these, some better than others).

The 'after hours' clinic is a good idea, but a health centre, with the name in large English words, operates throughout the day. The staff present the visitor with a checklist of tests, which is in Thai. Hence, a person needs a Thai companion as the nurse is unlikely to be able to explain them all. Alternatively, a person could just say 'everything' (appropriate to the gender), though some tests, such as the ultrasound, require an appointment and a longish wait. As this will cost 1,000 to 1,500 baht, the staff are eager to help as it is welcome income for the hospital.
