Man Dies Falling Off Pile Driving Tower.

Featured Replies

July 7, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chanunant Chaikawin, Deputy Inspector (Investigation) of Mueang Phitsanulok Police Station, received a report of a fatal accident at a construction site for a riverbank dam along the Nan River, near the raft community on Phuttha Bucha Road, Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phitsanulok Province. The police, along with a doctor from Naresuan University Hospital and rescue personnel from Prasat Boon Sathan Foundation, Phitsanulok, rushed to the scene.

The accident took place behind Wat Tha Maprang, where workers were using a pile driver to reinforce the riverbank soil. The deceased, a 50-year-old man, was found lying near the pile driver.

Eyewitness Mr. Yont, the employer and supervisor of the pile driving operation, identified the deceased as Mr. Dam, approximately 50 years old, whose nationality and personal details are unknown. Mr. Dam had requested work in January, claiming to have experience in construction and pile driving.

Mr. Yont explained that during the incident, the sling detached from the pile driver, prompting Mr. Dam to climb the pile driver to reattach it. Unfortunately, he lost his balance and fell from a height of approximately 4 meters, hitting his head on a pile. He sustained a severe forehead injury with significant bleeding.

The body of the deceased has been sent to the forensic department at Naresuan University Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Further procedures will follow as per the investigation's findings.
