Things to never buy online in Thailand!

(1)  Angry as heck, used a very popular delivery service to order some fresh chicken which I wanted to cook myself.

Apparently delivered from a (reputable?) shop with sounds like a flower and also has "fresh" in the name!

Smelled a little funny when I received it, but thought I would cook the hell out of it to kill any possible bacteria.

Painful stomach cramps for the next two days on the toilet!

(2)  Found a really good deal on SSD drives, (1 terabyte!) for around 1000 baht.  Like an idiot, bought one from each of the two leading online shopping sites!

Went next day to computer shop to replace my HDD with the brand new SSD's, (clone all my files) and after a couple of hours, they said they simply couldn't do it!

Talked to owner, and he connected the SSD's to an online site which measures all aspects of HDD's and SSD's.

Turns out, they actually "read" as 1TB when plugged in to the laptop, but upon checking all parameters technically, they only had 64MB writeable memory!!!

Overall, shopping online has been really good in Thailand, cheap and fast delivery, huge choice of items which you won't find at any store, BUT, be careful with the above two items, and also any other items that you, good readers, would like to add to the list!

I buy fresh chicken, pork and minced beef every week through a delivery service (they have no responsibility for what is sent) and have never received anything "off" from Lotus's...you were unlucky that one time and your experience does not justify the "never buy online" warning.

Your other warning maybe should have been "Never buy a less-then-$30 '1 terabyte' SSD online"!

Any frozen or chilled meats.

No major electronic items - as always fear they're fakes.

Sometimes the women who show up are not as fresh as advertised.

A bit like the chicken.

What's with all this online delivery?  Are you physically-disabled? Have you no time in your life to visit a shop in person?  How about of bit of exercise?  I have a car, but I always walk the 1 or 2 km to the shops every day. Can't believe how lazy some people are 🙂

I would be angry at myself too if I bought any fresh food off the internet unless it was from grab or lineman beer by around the corner.

Do not buy cheap “good deal” electronics off shopee or lazada and such. Buy it from the manufacturer website or Amazon retailers that have a long standing reputation. Shopee and lazada is flooded with cheap junk counterfeit electronic products from china.

Recently had surgery and can not walk too far, the stitches hurt.

Thank you for the insults.

No insults - you fall into the physically-disabled category.  But I expect you to walk to/from the shops after the stitches are taken out!  🙂
