The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is stepping up its strategies to attract more French tourists aligned with the Paris 2024 Olympics, which started on Friday. TAT has partnered with Carrefour Voyages since May to kick off promotional campaigns in 115 French travel agencies. The aim is to enhance tourism from Thailand using both online and offline methods, with a target of selling 2,000 travel packages by August.

TAT aspires to keep its marketing push alive in the second half of the year by collaborating with Voyage Privé, Oovatu, Singapore Airlines, and the Singapore Tourism Board. This plan hopes to attract 632,000 French tourists to Thailand this year, potentially generating a minimum of 42.9 billion baht from the tourism industry.

Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT's deputy governor for Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa, expressed her belief that this approach will surpass pre-pandemic levels in terms of both tourist numbers and revenue. She highlighted the Paris Olympics as a crucial chance to motivate French tourists to visit Thailand before and after the Games.

Maybe the Thai representations in Paris could start by answering the phone, giving proper information, speeding up e visa submissions and responding to e mails from foreigners ?

So each French tourist will spend a minimum of 80,000 each. Including children & couples.

Carrefour agencies , in every town in France , cater to the cheap getaways , with prices flight and hotel u der the 1000€ mark. 10 days in which they spend on the beach, unless they have one of those awful tours that race you around Bangkok, Chiang Mai and some very quiet hotel on a beach far from anything . ( usually north Phuket ). Too late for summer hols now, and everyone knows the different in the seasons in Thailand. Currently here, South of France, we have a heat wave 39c, hotels are packed to the rafters.

Some of the biggest companies in the world are withdrawing funds and advertising from the freak show and bias judging on the Olympics … Yep another failure supported by TAT 5555555

It's amazing.

How they come to this figure?

Why not 633,000 or one million?

But hey, aren't they good for a good cracking jokes every day??😂

Maybe TAT should consider North Korea... I'm sure they have untapped thousands that would love to come.

Visa free and one way tickets excepted.

How come we never hear much about French Tourists in Thailand, are they always well behaved?

Not the brightest of ideas, but the Western tourist campaign must go on & the budget spent.

The TAT boys might be more than careful with yet another strange idea of theirs. Carrefour was the former partner of Big C and, like Makro International, Tesco-Lotus or Auchan - just to name a few, de-invested in Thailand, packed and left.

The opening games of the Olympic Games 2024 was a cluster"*%çk - to put it mildly. Big corporations withdrew their sponsorship already, we're talking hundreds of millions of dollars here. The first time in history, a country ridiculed its culture, religion and heritage on the world's biggest stage ever. You may follow any religion; the Europeans (which includes France) tend to be Christians. The way the took the "last supper" to the cleaners, this gender-woking around with transgender, a school girl and a fellow without underwear - all in the context of Christianity's "last supper" was an ultimate insult to literally everybody.

Now, as we know, there is no bad advertisement but here, in this case, I am not too sure. I - for one - just wait for the Pope to vent his spleen. Try to imagine this scenario with another religion such as Islam?

Hence, for once, TAT might be advised to walk away and not getting tied up with the same bunch of "weird marketing specialists" to put it mildly!

They are attracting a lot of French people. Notably tearing around on big bikes and generally behaving badly. They do not look European though .... but I guess they contribute to that "French tourist target".

It takes a special level of genius to predict 632,000 French tourists from a specific campaign. Maybe they are consulting with a psychic?

Make that 631,999

Agnés told me she can't come.

What am I missing.....what has the Paris Olympics got to do with attracting French tourists to Thailand???

  • Popular Post

I can see it all now.

  • A race to complete all the hurdles in getting visas and renewals.
  • Single combat with Immigration and the RTP for commonality of procedures nationwide.
  • Relay races between Immigration, banks, copying facilities and Visa agencies to satisfy the needs of the hordes of Government officialdom.
  • Lighting the Olympic flame up some lazy official's a*se to get things moving.
  • Wrestling contests for those with wives pared with Immigration officials aiming for a marriage extension.
  • a heart-stopping finale of leaving the Immigration centre with the correctly dated documents and stamps

      And .........:-

  • A victory circuit around the Immigration centre, having achieved yet anther year's legal documentation.
