London Black Taxicabs (and Showroom) In Bangkok

Just curious..........

I recall a couple of years ago driving past a Dealer showroom that had what looked like brand new London Black Taxicabs for sale.

My initial thought was "that was strange", and then I thought "why not".

But I do not recall ever seeing any in use in Bangkok.

I guess they are not cheap in Thailand (I presume not made locally?), so to warrant a showroom I figure their must be a demand.........I am just stumped as to what - surely not private cars?

Any ideas folks?

London Taxi Service in Bangkok

Maybe it was their depot / cum showroom I saw?

Can't say I understand the attraction of sitting in the back of a Black cab instead of a Toyota.......but I guess the locals would find it bizarre to find Farang who liked Tuk Tuks in farangland :o

Tuk Tuks are pretty popular in Brighton (UK)

A "Black Cab" is more spacious than a "Toyota" and you can get a lot more luggage in a Black cab.

i usually take them outside villa market thonglo

they r a wee more expensive than the normal one, but i like them cuz alot of space inside to place my shopping bags! :D

So what folk are telling me is that........

Black Taxicabs are used in Bangkok as...........Taxicabs..........by both Thais and Farang.

Thailand :o sometimes it just seems too crazy to be true :D:D

Seen them at the old airport a few times..

:D As I recall it was an idea of some Thai businessman that maybe tourists would like the idea of taking a London cab from the airport. Don't think it ever made it to the new airport, however. It was just a gimmick, and i think the price was too high for most people.
