This marked the fifth consecutive month that illegal crossing numbers have decreased, suggesting that efforts to manage the border, whether at the state or federal level, may be having an impact.

 

However, these developments have done little to quell the broader debate over immigration. For Abbott, the decrease in illegal crossings does not diminish the urgency of his efforts. The governor remains committed to his hardline approach, insisting that Texas will "deploy every tool and strategy to deny illegal crossings into our state." This resolve is likely to keep the immigration issue at the forefront of national discourse, particularly as the 2024 election season intensifies.

Good for him, and if federal officers try to cut it put up more. Good for him sticking it to Biden, who caused the problem in the first place by cancelling Trump's policies.

 

As long as the wire is inside Texas, can Biden even do anything about it? I hope not. In any event, Texas should ignore Biden bleating on about letting them all in.
