hi ya's i have tried to do a search but couldnt find anything specific,

my question is, my work contract is due on the 1/11 and at this stage i assume it will get re-signed.

my current non b visa and work permit arent due for renewal until 31/12,

do i have to leave thailand to renew the visa or will a new one be automatically done with the new work permit.

cheers

As 31/12 is more than 90 days from today you must have a one year extension of stay from Immigration. You will have to renew that prior to 31/12. You will have to pay 1,900 baht for TM.7 and present a briefcase of paperwork. You will not have to exit the country and expect someone is helping you do this if you are not aware of the procedure. Just make sure as the time approaches that it is taken care of.

They'll give you a 10 month extension (until 31/10/08 if you get a 1 year work contract on 1/11/07). No need to leave the country. As far as I'm concerned I haven't left Thailand since 2003 - and it was not for a visa but for holidays.

Actually (if i understand his case) he has 2 solutions. One is to apply for a one year extension of stay and a one year extension of the WP when he signs the new contract on 1/11.

The other one is to apply for a two month extension of his WP and then before 31/12 (a holiday) to apply for a 10 month extension of stay and a 10 month extension of his WP.

In terms of headaches, the 1st solution is less painful I guess (and maybe a little cheaper regarding the WP).

Am I right or did I have one beer too many ?

It could be because of Archa beer but I don't understand why visa, WP and work contract are not due on the same day.

yes there is someone that will be taking care of this i was merely asking so i was familiar with the goings on. (actually trying to scam a trip home for new years)

my intial 12 month non b multi visa was issued mid september last year and i flew out from australia on the 26th october,

i started work on the 1st november (didnt actually sign the contract at that stage as it had some issues i needed sorted) and that was when the work permit application was made, it wasnt until the 19th december that the paper work had been processed then i went in and signed for it but for some reason the date for expiry is actually the 31st and i would assume my intial 12 month visa was re-issued to come into line with the work permit.
