Is the SAMSUNG A25 5G the best phone I can buy tomorrow...for the money...in Thailand?

Recommended Posts

Dear Folks,

Unfortunately, my NOTE4 PowerButton just failed.

Therefore, a new cheap phone is a must, obviously.

BUT....

Is this the best phone for the money, at around Bt.10,000.00?

If it were you, would you buy this phone, if this was your budget?

Or, for approximately the same amount of money, would you choose a DIFFERENT Samsung phone?

ONLY SAMSUNG.

I will not buy any other brand.

image.png.c891a0b02659e3e58d7607574e5446f8.png

As you guys know....

I always trust the opinions of you guys.

You guys have never steered me wrong.....so far.

Thank you and regards,

Gamma

NOTE:  If this phone, would you feel comfortable buying from SAMSUNG shop as well as from POWERBUY, and or....JIB?

Or, better to buy from SAMSUNG shop?

NOTE2:  When I say I am ready to buy.... I ain't just whistlin' Dixie !!!

I don't know what the A25 gives you above and beyond, but I've been perfectly happy with my A05s, currently selling for less than 5,000 baht.  I popped 1000 baht for the "upgrade" over the base model, A05 (I think) which gave me a higher resolution screen.  Mine's also a dual SIM model.

I think the A15 is available in 5G if that's important to you, for 6,000 baht or so.  I've been looking for a backup phone and pricing out the Samsungs since I've always had good luck with Samsung products, starting with my first smartphone, a Galaxy S2 for about $600 USD at the time.  10 or 15 years later, I can buy a more capable phone for 1/4 the money...  But the S2 still works AND it has a field replaceable battery.  Sadly, I left it in the USA,

The main reason for wanting a backup phone is to have an extra media player for those long flights where they no longer allow power banks to be used in flight, and the (older) aircraft don't have USB charging ports.  And if my phone does eventually crap out, I can just swap the SIMs to the backup...

Edit:  I'd add that I'm not a gamer, so I have no clue about gaming performance...  Mines' just a communication device that I use to play songs via Bluetooth and videos on flights, mostly.

OK.

Thank you for the info.

I will check on the models that you have listed in your comment.

My main concern is RAM...the more the better.

But, for my budget, I guess I will not get more than 8GB of RAM.

Also, the nice thing about the A25 5G is that it has a headphone jack, which I really like.

Also, IMPORTANTLY....

I can add up to ONE TBYTE of Storage in MIRCRO SD.  This will be GREAT....I think.

I want to be able to use a MICRO SD for extra storage!

TKS....

Post back with any info you find, especially about what you get for the extra $$$ as you go up the Samsung A(x) product line.  I suspect it's more processing power and maybe a zoomier display.  Then you can make a quantum leap into the other Samsung lines, spending up to 60K baht (and more) for a folding screen.  I just don't have F..U.. money for that kind of upgrade, though I don't fault anyone who chooses to go that way.  I do have the peanuts (in the big scheme of life) to pop for the A15 or the A25 if they offer a discernable difference in performance or...?

Edit: As far as RAM goes...  With a tiny screen, I can't multi-task enough to eat up whatever RAM I have, like I can with a ton of programs and tabs open on my laptop.  I chose a 128 GB micro-SD card, with the thought that I can replace it with higher capacity if I fill it up.  So far, not even close.

Samsung 25 is a good phone. Compared with the 15, you get a better Processor, more Ram, better screen. If you want a eSim in the future, you may have a look at the A35. But I would not go less then the A25. Not worth to safe a little and be disapointed down the line. 15/25 both are not watertight (no ip rating), that will start with the A35. Just in case you like watersport Songkran.

I will check pricing for A35....

UPDATE!

Now saying a sorry adieu to my amazing NOTE4, a true brute of a machine, for the year 2014.

I will be holding a wake in honor of my NOTE4, in coming days....if anyone wishes to attend, virtually.

I cannot say enough in praise of the Fantastic Mr. Fox, the name I gave to my NOTE4, the day I first turned it on, and became blown away by its sheer magnificence and beauty.

The NOTE4 was about the best phone that Samsung ever made.

Built like a tank, it just kept on going.

In the end, it was lack of suitable software upgrades that did it in....this...and also the power-button.

But even the power-button could have been repaired, and WILL BE REPAIRED...yet!, once I find the right supplier of power-buttons....

I will continue to use my NOTE4, for many things, but just not for internet banking.....

By the Way....

The A25 or A35 is no match for the A55 5G, just in terms of storage...256GB.

The A55G, so I have heard, is not offered to the US Market.

=========

There is no way I would go for the S class of Samsung Phones these day.

Back in the day....the NOTE4 was worth the money.

These days, better to just get the A55, and then upgrade in two or three years.....

Technology is advancing too quickly now....

And, three years from now....

There will be MUCH new to choose from, and also at a very moderate price.

These words of wisdom you can count on....

Having been uttered here, for the first time, by....

GAMMAGLOBULIN....

I just hope I outlive my A55 5G with 256GB STORAGE, and 12GB RAM, and 1TB of MicroSD removable storage.

So:...

CHEAP PHONE!

AND, GOOD-ENOUGH PHONE....

This is all I need, these days....because...

I LOVE DESKTOPS, and not PHONES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dear Folks,

I just purchased an  A55 5G Phone from Samsung.

On the surface, the specs look quite nice.

But, for one thing, I have noticed that the new phone is NOT as good as my NOTE4.....

No Way, Jose !!!!

Therefore, I have already contacted Samsung support...

And the Samsung Service Center told me that I can return the phone within 7 days to the Samsung shop where I purchased it.

One BIG problem is that the VOLUME on the A55 is nowhere near as loud or clear as my NOTE4, even after TEN FING YEARS of use!!!

Therefore, what is the problem here...?????

Is the A55, despite its specs.....just basically a GARBAGE PHONE.....by comparison to the NOTE4?

And so...the Real Question here is:

I need to make a quick decision about returning the phone to Samsung...and then....

UPGRADING from A55....

TO WHAT????

I need to act fast, but I really have no idea what to upgrade to....

I am just trying to get the same or better quality as the NOTE4....

And, I am also trying to pay the minimum possible in order to achieve this goal.

(Because....I am not interested in phones.  I HATE phones.  I LOVE desktop computers.  And, a phone is just basically a disliked but necessary TOOL for me.  I take ZERO pleasure in looking at my phone, nor in using my phone.  I just need something really good, in order to go about my daily life, and meet my daily commitments.  Phones, of any type, no longer get my juices runninig....like they do for young idiots......)

So, then, any good suggestions concerning what I might upgrade to, from the A55?

What a HUGE headache this is....

I am NOT a Phone-Loving-Drooling NITWIT....truly...

Thank you.

I get a lot more turned on by just looking at a Monet (either painter), than staring at my phone.

Thank you for any reasonable comments on this, if you might be able to spare the time to comment...

Huge stress involved with buying anything from the local shops....I MUST say!

I am posting back, NOW...as you requested.

So, if you know more about Samsung phones than I....

What is the next much better phone than the A55 5G?

I have found the A55 unacceptable....

Sound volume, for one.

Even just while making basic phone calls.

Tks...if...you have any further advice....

I will buy ONLY Samsung....

Work just gave me an S24 Ultra.

Seems to go ok but I prefer my old S21 which I own... the new S24 can stay in the drawer at work.

check the S24 specs out.. might be better than the A55.

I bought an A25 5G two months ago, albeit for the equivalent of 8K bahts. My old Galaxy S7 edge was still working, but I had to install an app that wasn't supported (OS too old).
I'm happy with the A25, it's good enough for the price. The camera is OK, the screen and the speakers too.

Sorry....

What is an "FE"....?

I don't understand.

Also, you know...

IMHO...

The NOTE4 has been the very best phone I have ever owned.

Also, before the NOTE4, I used, for a short time, the GALAXY S3....

And, that was a beauty, too.

I think the S3 Galaxy is one of the best phones I ever owned.

I still have it.

I still love it.

It's a really beauty of a phone, for its time.....

Such good craftsmanship, for example!

image.png.e4e31ced30a9beabb081877ec38e1d3f.png

Which is the best choice?

I will use my new phone for 10 more years....

Just as I did the NOTE4....

TKS....!

PS:  What a FING hassle to need to revisit the store where I purchased the A55.....!!!!!!

I really HATE to deal with the local retail merchants.....BIG TIME....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Worse than Trump....????

NO.

Trump is a pussycat, comparatively....!!!!!

If this of any help I brought the A15 5G a few months ago, it is all right, no problems, I am just a basic user, I have AIS's internet on it, the speed is good, it has been dropped, more than once, still keeps going, spends a lot of time in my shed with the radio on, into a Blue Tooth

Please provide you evidence here.....ASAP....

Because....I still have 72 hours before returning the A55 to Samsung.

Personally, I TRULY agree with you....BIG TIME.

What I would really like is to have EVERYTHING on my Google Accounts....

This means....GREAT BACKUP SUPPORT FOR DATA....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am completely OPEN to buying phones from GOOGLE.....

But....also....the question begs:  Can I buy a Google Phone here in Chiang Mai?

I really do not know...because.....

I VERY seldom pay much attention to PHONES......

I LOVE Desktops.....and I know something about desktops....and LINUX.....on the desktop....

BUT....I know FING NOTHING about phones....since....

I HATE phones.....BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, what do you know about Google Phones compared to SAMSUNG phones.....to be purchased in Chiang Mai????

.......

For example:

All of my data is on Google, and has been for many, many years.

What I would PREFER is to have my phone do what my Desktop computers do.....

Which is to completely and seamlessly integrate with all of my Google Accounts....

Are SAMSUNG phones better...in any way.....to the S series of Samsung phones?

I am a REAL DUMMY when it comes to phones...because....I almost never read anything about smartphones....and....

Smartphones DISGUST me....

Thank you...

(This is not one of my many JOKE posts...and, also....sorry for so many joke posts....in the past.....please forgive...!!!!!!!)

Sorry Gamma, no phone but a Google phone for me.

One thing you might not know....

About 11 years ago, in 2013, I purchased a NEXUS tablet....from Google....

And, I was very dissatisfied by the build quality on the NEXUS, at the time.

In fact, the build quality was not so good.

And, it bombed out fairly quickly....

That machine, was built by ASUS for Google, as you may or may not know....

So....I am just saying...

Once burned....twice shy....

Do I really want to trust Google devices, again?

Or, have they improved.

Obviously, ....

Google does not make their own devices....

ASUS is great for Motherboards.

And, I have no hesitation to buy ASUS motherboards...

But....Do I really want to trust a Google phone or tablet...ever again?

YES....

or....

NO...

And...then.....

WHY?

Concerning buying a phone from Google, rather than from Samsung:

I am very interested in doing this.

aa.  So, can anyone give me the NEGATIVES in doing so?

bb.  Also, how to buy a Google phone in Chiang Mai?

cc.  One thing I really like about the idea of buying a Google Phone is that I might get far more INTEGRATION with all my Google Accounts, of which I have MANY...MANY....

dd.  So, any ideas will be very welcome to me.....

I have only 72 hours to choose...

I will be returning the A55 no later than Monday, Sept 2nd...

Tks!

Note:  My budget now is about.... BT40,000.

Anything cheaper than this is GARBAGE....in my opinion....compared to my old but great NOTE4....

NOTE2:  I really cannot believe that I actually purchased the A55.....  I must have been....

OUT OF MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Also....

Why does the A55 Samsung offer 12GB of RAM....for so much a LOWER cost.......

And the S class of the Samsung phone offer only 8GB of RAM for such a higher cost?

To get the same amount of RAM on the S-model Samsung phone....

Then, I must pay almost TWO TIMES the price?!!!!!

Makes no sense to me.

But....is the extra cost worth it?

I LOVE THE WAY THIS GUY TALKS ABOUT PHONES !!!!!

Personally....guys....I do not give a FING CARP about price.....after being burned with the A55 5G from Samsung....

I am no longer price sensitive.....

F That!

I will use my phone...for about....another 5 years.

Therefore....

Price no longer matters to me.....

I just want the best and most reliable phone.

I do NOT want to switch phones for, at least, another FIVE FING YEARS!!!!

Not joking....!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE:  I will NEVER EVER consider an Apple product....!!!!!!!!!!!

NOTE2:  I was a true Walter Mitty for dreaming that some FING phone, like the A55 could ever come close to my tried and true, and trusty NOTE4, which I used for 10+ years.....!!!!!!

NOTE3:  I still love Danny KAYE, by the way....

image.png.50d4424dca1002f8f25d3927e91d5f97.png

Nobody can ever replace Danny.

And, no machine can ever replace my NOTE4.

512GB storage might be better.

16GB of RAM is what I would wish for, and it has it.

I have no idea about the build quality.

But, if manufactured in CHINA...then....I can easily accept this.

I LOVE China.
