Thai woman forced to pay by 4 fake police over dissatisfaction with escort service

A woman in Thailand sought help after being extorted by four men, who pretended to be policemen. They demanded that she refund a service fee of 1,500 baht and also extorted an extra 20,000 baht from her, claiming dissatisfaction with her escort services.

The Saimai Survive, a non-profit organization, assisted the woman in filing a complaint against the four men at the Mueang Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station on August 29. The men had said they were policemen in the area, although they didn't disclose their unit.

The woman told the police and media that the incident occurred on August 26. The men approached her for her services, paying 1,500 baht in advance. However, after the service, they demanded their money back, claiming they were not satisfied with her performance. When she refused, they threatened to arrest her for being a prostitute.

The men got a friend, who was with another woman in the same profession, to take her to the police station. They forced the woman to refund the money and demanded an additional 20,000 baht. When she refused, the men insisted her and the other woman's families come to the police station to pay the money.

The women managed to negotiate the amount down to 5,000 baht after explaining their families didn't know about their line of work. Even after they paid the reduced amount, the men were pressuring them to make regular payments to avoid being arrested.

The woman sought justice and reached out to an organization for help. Deputy Commissioner Ekkarat Aunjai of Mueang Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Police Station promised to assist the victims and initiated an investigation into the authenticity of the alleged policemen.

Not that I agree with these slimy extortion tactics

but is prostitution legal now ? if its legal then shouldn't there be some sort of ombudsman to negotiate between the provider and serviced in case of overcharging and/or poor performance ?
